How we help our customers
Fospha is an analytics company looking at user journeys through
online and offline systems. These journeys happen when users are doing
various activities such as buying goods, reading content, communicating
with each other and learning. Our work is therefore relevant to many
industry sectors and combines computer science, software engineering,
mathematics, data science and user interface design.
We are very well funded and count many FTSE 100 companies and high
growth start-ups as our clients. We have experienced rapid growth due to
the traction of our marketing analytics product being used in the real
world to solve real problems. We are attracting interest from engineers
that want to experiment with and build the next version of our platform,
it’s not for everyone. Our prototypes and proof of concepts that will
soon hit production will utilise technologies such as scala and kafka
and more cloud tech to process and enrich in real-time algorithms which
are truly disrupting industries we target, we will do this both through
our enriched data and our client’s own eco systems.
We currently have a very stable system that evolves as we bring in
more engineers, it’s robust, secure and data compliant to the highest
possible standards. Our clients really value these things which is why
we are taking a steady approach to building a brand new system from the
ground up to eventually supersede it over the next 18-24 months.
The Role
Our customers expect the highest levels of security for their data,
our main application suite is built around Java and SQL, this role
involves working on many proof of concepts and cutting edge prototype
systems through to production over the next couple of years. Your
involvement will cover all parts of planning, designing, explaining,
testing, implementing, deploying and supporting our solutions. You will
also get to heavily influence best practice (CI/CD, testing etc) for the
entire dev team as we scale.
* Our main programming language is Java, with SQL. Ideal candidates
will be strong in both. We are happy to look at candidates with
experience in other languages, so long as we believe you can work
comfortably with a JVM language in little time
* Be data aware, and knowledgeable about API security
* Management of own work and communication with clients
Build an environment where data science deployments can happen in a
unified way – we’re not there yet but the next engineering hire will
play a pivotal role
Build more enterprise integrations around processing for our platforms
Our backend is built mostly in Java but we have also utilised Scala
over the last couple of years and moving forward we will also look to
bring in more additions such as NoSQL database like Cassandra, MongoDB,
and Elasticsearch

Many problems are difficult to solve, especially at scale. They take
the right team and environment. We are a mix of individuals from data
scientists and computer engineers to designers, marketers and
entrepreneurs. We have very different personalities. We are united by a
set of values, by a passion for solving big problems. The team have
varied academic backgrounds in technology-lead engineering disciplines
such as Computer Science, Natural Science, Mathematics and Engineering,
they have worked on developing technology solutions in industry or with
industry partners for many years.
