Job Summary
Work with a team of engineers responsible for designing and
developing the Red Hat 3scale API Management offering. The Red Hat
Software Engineering team is looking for a Manager to join us in
Barcelona, Spain. In this role, you will be responsible for an offering
that is part of the Red Hat Integration suite and an open source
solution that provides API Management capabilities both on premise and
in the cloud. You’ll be responsible for a geographically distributed
team of approx 10 engineers, immersing yourself in the day-to-day work
of the team, responding to the needs of the team, and facilitating
coaching and career development for the engineers on your team. As a
Manager, you’ll need to have a record of leading a team of highly
skilled developers, solid knowledge of Agile development processes,
excellent communication skills, and the ability to guide technical
discussions with architects and business teams.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Build a high-performing team
- Serve as a
people manager for your team with responsibility for establishing
objectives, providing feedback, fostering career development, and
providing active coaching of associates
- Work with product management and engineering teams to develop technology roadmaps and schedules and communicate these schedules
- Serve as a Scrum master and Scrum coach for your team responsible for the planning, implementation, and delivery of tasks
- Organize sprint planning meetings, end-of-sprint demos, and retrospectives
- Promote
Agile best practices among the teams and guide positive change within
systems and processes by monitoring what works well and by identifying
areas for improvement
- Work with cross-functional managers and
teams on documentation, product management, and quality engineering to
coordinate tasks necessary for releasing enterprise quality software
Required Skills
- Degree in computer science or a related discipline
- Experience as a people manager
- Practical experience as a Scrum master, product owner, or Scrum coach delivering software projects
- Technical
background in software development, the ability to understand technical
requirements and communicate with authority on a technical level
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and develop your skills in your team's technical area
- Organized and methodical approach to work; good attention to detail
- Solid
written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to
interact comfortably with other members of a large, geographically
distributed team
- Excellent presentation and writing skills; ability to explain your work and that of your team to a wide audience
- Ability to serve as a facilitator for team-based discussions
- Ability
to work as part of a team that is comprised mainly of remote workers
and widely geographically distributed; prior experience with remote
working is a plus Experience with open source development is a plus
