Summary
Initially in a support role within Social Point’s
localization team, prospective candidates will work on both English text
creation, proofreading and on-device English LQA, as well as support
the Localization Project Managers in translation and LQA coordination
into non-English languages for live games.
With excellent growth prospects - either developing into a Game Writer
or Localization Project Manager, candidates should have solid English
writing/editing skills, as well as hands-on interest or experience in
games localization.
Role & Responsibilities
Main tasks
- Copywrite, proofread and polish English ingame text
using product and feature briefings and under guidance from Game Writers
within the team as well as Development & Design teams throughout
the company
- Carry out on-device LQA in English and visual LQA for key localized languages where required on allocated projects
- Work
proactively with game teams, producers and designers to implement
localization best practices, scheduling, risk and quality management -
for both English and non-English languages. Represent localization in
regular meetings with development teams, share minutes, track follow-up
& actions with all stakeholders
Additional Tasks
- Support the coordination of translation tasks &
assignments for allocated projects, including batch generation from the
internal localization tool, batch submissions to the translation
vendors, deadline scheduling and visual LQA of imported translations
- Partner
with Translation Vendors on localization plan and execution, ensuring
all required materials are available where applicable and all translator
queries are addressed
Must Haves
PROFILE & EXPERIENCE
- English native speaker with degree level education
(desirably in linguistics, journalism or media studies) with a strong
passion for gaming
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in localization, English copywriting, proofreading, editing, LQA or similar role
- Interest or proven skills in creative writing and passion for narrative design in games
- Ability to familiarize quickly with new and existing games through research & active gameplay
- Ability to communicate in a clear, confident and concise manner both written and verbally
- Quality and detail oriented
- Ability to work unsupervised and maintain positive attitude, focus and strong team spirit
Nice To Haves
- Basic working knowledge of translation tools &
platforms, as well as ability to coordinate localization tasks with
external translation or LQA vendors
- Awareness of localization dependencies on English content, style, context & language specifics
- Proficiency in additional languages other than English is a definite bonus
