to help owners more effectively listen to their pets. Using connected
devices and powerful data analytics, we track the health, behaviour and
activity of cats and dogs. Along with helping owners understand their
pets, Felcana empowers vets with reliable insights to aid earlier and
more accurate diagnosis.

Role
We are on the hunt for an Embedded Electronic Engineer to aid in the
design, implementation and testing of both the hardware and firmware.
Making small and low powered devices packed with features isn’t easy, so
you’ll be pro at embedded devices and full of creative solutions.
Working alongside our technical team, you’ll be an all-round analytical
genius. Your analysis and insight will inform our product roadmap and
help make our product ready for mass production. We’re a start-up so
you’ll be working with all members of the team and get the opportunity
to shape the company.
Responsibilities
o Adding features, optimising and debugging the firmware that runs on Felcana’s devices
o Testing the performance and functionality of the electronic hardware and designing it for manufacture
o Ensuring that the devices have a high level of security, don’t
contain bugs and are ready for mass manufacture. This includes
developing production line tools and working with an EMC testing company
o Maintaining a high standard of coding practice, with clear comments, good documentation and effective use of revision control
o Exploring new product opportunities through creativity, research and prototyping
o Immersing yourself in the tech scene to ensure Felcana remains at the cutting edge
o Communicate complex ideas effectively to the entire team
Qualifications
o A 2:1 masters or higher in a relevant analytical discipline awarded
by a leading academic institution (e.g. Imperial College, UCL,
Cambridge, Bristol, Edinburgh, etc).
o Experience with low power embedded devices, such as microcontrollers
o Knowledge of the BLE specification and experience working with BLE stacks
o Proficient in debugging both software and hardware. Able to use an
oscilloscope effectively and takes a logical approach to problem
solving
o Excellent programming skills in C and strong skills in C++ and Python
o Strong Linux, git and bash skills
o Enthusiastic about electronics and the maker community
o Ambition, tenacity, and self-starting with the ability to identify creative new approaches
