We’re looking for exceptional and highly motivated data scientist
that loves building and testing models with Python to join us at IOMED.
About this role
The core of your role is designing, implementing, and training
algorithms that extract value from clinical data as well as furthering
your skills working with an incredible multidisciplinary team. We don’t
draw a hard line between our research and engineering teams: you’ll do
research and ship commercial quality software that puts it to use. We
mostly work in Python, but dip into other languages when it makes sense
to, so you’ll need to be comfortable picking up a from a range of tools.
One day you might prototype something from scratch in numpy or pandas,
and on another work on production code using a high-level library.
About you
You have proven skills of putting Machine Learning to use, and you’re
comfortable with the mathematics. You work well in a team, can teach
& learn from others, and communicate what you’re working on with
non-technical team members.
Things You Might Do
IOMED is a startup, so you’ll have to be comfortable rolling up your
sleeves and doing whatever needs doing. However, you can definitely
expect to:
Design, implement & test model architectures on interesting datasets
Build & evaluate ML-based algorithms for customers
After you create, train, and evaluate a model, deploy it to and tweak it to make it work in a production environment
Collaborate on the writing of papers and posters
About IOMED
In the 322 million clinical consultations carried out in Spain every
year a large amount of data is collected in a free text format (up to
85% in Catalonia). To extract value from this data is necessary to
develop new techniques that led to structured data.
IOMED builds ML tools that enable other developers to make analytics
and ML models on complex healthcare data with ease. The tools structure
clinical texts written by physicians, extracting and encoding relevant
medical concepts like symptoms, diseaseases… taking into account their
context (negations, family/personal background, past events...).
We're based in Barcelona, funded by local and international ventures.
IOMED is an equal opportunity employer. We are still a small team and
are committed to growing in an inclusive manner. We want to augment our
team with talented, compassionate people irrespective of race, color,
religion, national origin, sex, physical or mental disability, or age.
Requirements
Knowledge of Python, NumPy, Pandas, and a library of plots.
Machine Learning knowledge, as well as Bayesian statistics.
Experience implementing neural networks (NN) and creating new models, adjustment of hyperparameters, etc.
Experience with a library of NN: Keras / Tensorflow / others.
Experience deploying machine learning models.
Knowledge of ETL techniques as well as SQL.
Deploying model on Docker.
Training models on GPU
