Now, we’re expanding our engineering team in Barcelona and looking for a Founding AI Engineer to join our small but mighty team, someone ready to push the boundaries of what’s possible with large language models and UX automation.
📎 What You’ll Do
Lead Research that shapes the Product
- Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research (interviews, usability tests, surveys, diary studies, concept validation).
- Identify user needs, behaviors, and pain points across designers, product managers, and research teams.
- Translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations for product and engineering.
Help build & improve our Synthetic Testers
- Define research frameworks that inform how our AI personas behave and evaluate products.
- Collaborate with AI engineers to refine how synthetic users simulate real-world UX feedback.
- Validate the quality and realism of AI-generated insights against real-user research.
- Conduct evals and analysis to proof the quality of our Synthetic Testers

Build Research as a core capability
- Establish research processes in an early-stage startup environment.
- Define best practices for research documentation, repositories, and insight sharing.
- Help position Uxia as a thought leader in AI-powered research.
Collaborate cross-functionally
- Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering.
- Support go-to-market and marketing with user insights.
- Participate in strategic decisions based on user evidence.
💪 Who You Are
- 5+ years of experience in UX Research, Product Research, or Human-Computer Interaction (startup or tech company preferred).
- Experience writing structured research reports, whitepapers, or academic-style publications in UX, HCI, psychology, or related fields.
- Strong experience conducting moderated and unmoderated usability tests and user interviews.
- Comfortable running end-to-end research projects independently.
- You know when to use qualitative vs. quantitative methods.
- You can synthesize messy inputs into structured insights.
- You communicate clearly and influence product decisions with evidence.
- You thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous startup environments.
- You’re curious about how AI is transforming research and excited to rethink traditional methods.
⭐️ Nice to Have
- Experience working with AI-driven products or LLM-based tools.
- Background in behavioral science, psychology, HCI, or service design.
- Experience building research ops from scratch.
- Familiarity with tools like Maze, UserTesting, Dovetail, Lookback, Hotjar, Amplitude, or similar.
