Performance and Development in Personio include the management of feedback meetings, the tracking of goals and a very big vision for the future. Our goal is to make this as transparent, fair and painless as possible. We are building the tools that help managers foster the right conversations, engage and grow employees in their careers and provide insights to organizations that help them unlock their people potential.

We are at the beginning of our journey and need help laying the foundation of Performance Management to become a directly revenue contributing product and drive towards Personio's mission to Enable Better Organizations.

You will work in an effective, autonomous team, where you will get to play out your engineering skills in a high-impact driven environment. Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for the full cycle of feature development in the Employee Performance and Development team  ("You build it, you run it").

Specific tasks of the Senior Back-end Engineer (Tech Lead) at Personio:
  • You will be responsible for the technical leadership of one of our teams.

  • You will coach and onboard team members
  • You will drive team-internal and cross-team engineering initiatives
  • You will participate in our hiring process and shape the future of our engineering organization
  • You will identify and communicate technical improvements within the team domain

  • We have a “you built it, you run it” attitude and CI/CD is our second nature - we use AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitLab to implement it!

  • Which skills you should bring:

    • 5+ years of software development experience on the JVM ( e.g. Java, Kotlin) or .NET framework
    • Track record of working in an agile setup using continuous deployment and delivery
    • Experience with event-driven architectures, domain-driven design and messaging design patterns
    • Knowledge about resilience patterns
    • Experience with containerization and container orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes preferred) in a cloud environment (AWS preferred)
    • Strong skills driving engineering coaching within pair programming or learning sessions, board explanations and feedback sessions to increase creativity and innovation among team members
    • Multiple years of experience in interviewing and technically assessing engineering talent
    • Strong written and spoken English (level C1 on the CEFR scale)

  • What motivation and mentality you should bring:

    • We are about to build a category leader for HR software in Europe. You should bring a passion for making the lives of others (in our case: Employees and HR professionals) better.
    • We are experiencing rapid growth and are “building our plane while flying it”. So bring your agile mindset to the table!
    • Embrace feedback - no one is perfect, neither are we. So let’s make this an opportunity to praise and learn from each other.
    • Proactive problem solver. You are willing to leave code and engineering practices in better shape than when you first encountered them.
    • Let’s grow together - share your knowledge, we will share ours!
    • Humour. Have fun with us, don’t take yourself too seriously - neither do we ;-)

  • Market-proven, well-funded and fast-growing company ($130M funding acquired to date)
  • As you are joining Personio at such an early stage, this shows us your trust and confidence in us. We would like you to profit from the success of the company, and therefore, we offer you a competitive compensation package (salary, benefits and virtual shares)
