Goodlord’s mission is to make renting simple and transparent for
everyone. Our aim is to remove the complications of the rental process,
by eliminating the inefficiencies involved with renting. Our secure
cloud-based platform incorporates everything from contract generation,
e-signing and referencing, to insurance. This technology creates a
better way to rent. For everyone.
We recently closed a funding round at £7m led by Finch Capital with
Rocket Internet and Global Founders Capital also contributing. The new
funding will be used to build new products, grow our customer base, and
invest in the further development of our technology platform.
We’re now looking for a talented, hands-on, engineering team lead to
join our team and help us make renting simpler and more transparent.

What you will be doing:
Management (25%)
* Line manage and support a team of 4-5 remote engineers, ensuring
that they have full organisational context and are as effective as if
they were based in London
* Contribute to setting clear goals both at the team and individual
level in order to ensure everyone has focus and clarity on what needs to
be done
* Coach and mentor more junior engineers to help them develop the
knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to further their careers
Engineering (75%)
* Work directly with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers and other stakeholders to understand end user problems
* Build and maintain features in our core platform for managing tenancy life cycles
* Evolve the application architecture to reduce technical debt and
take advantage of current technological standards and best practices
* Perform self defined tasks geared towards your personal and professional development
What we are looking for from you:
* Willingness to learn and adapt
* 5+ years commercial experience in web application development
* 1+ year line management experience (preferably in your most recent job)
* Proficient in at least one of React w/ Typescript, PHP w/ Symfony, Scala or Node.js and are excited about learning the others.
* Experience working in an agile team with a good track record of delivery
A brief look at our Tech:
The application comprises a PHP (5.6) app that communicates with a
number of internal (Scala) and third party services via and a
combination of HTTP and SQS. Parts of the UI are written in Typescript
with React. The app and all services are deployed in Docker containers
running in a Kubernetes cluster on AWS.
We use Github for version control and Concourse CI for building,
testing and deploying code to the staging and production environments.
All data is persisted in a MYSQL (AWS Aurora) database.
