Job Summary
The Red Hat Platform Tools team is looking for a Software
Engineer to join us. In this role, you’ll help build, package, and
support Golang tools for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora. If
your experience allows it, you will be given an opportunity to delve
deeper into the upstream code and contribute to related community
projects. You'll join a fast-paced, highly experienced, and exciting
engineering team distributed across the globe and will participate in a
vibrant open source culture. You'll help promote quality and innovation
in the Red Hat Platform Tools team. Successful applicants must reside in
a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Working with the wider team, prepare, build, and
verify Golang tools packages for RHEL and Fedora, delivering to
established schedules
- In line with your experience level, reproduce, investigate, and potentially fix bugs in Golang for RHEL and Fedora
- Interact professionally with internal and external developers, customers, and communities
- Work collaboratively and flexibly with peer engineers located on the West Coast of the United States
- Regularly report on status
- More
experienced applicants will have the opportunity to contribute to
community Golang tools projects, potentially including new feature
development
Required Skills
- Experience using the Go language, runtime, and tools
- 2+
years of experience in the software industry; or 5+ years of
experience, and ideally part of that experience in a role related to the
Go language or its tools, for a senior position
- Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, or a technology-related discipline
The Following Requirements Are a Plus
- Experience packaging for RHEL, Fedora, or related Linux distributions
- Deeper experience with the Go language, runtime, and tools
- Experience with C and C++ toolchains and debuggers
- Practical experience developing Go software or Go tools for enterprise use
- Go tools community participation
- Knowledge of and experience with system tools internals like compilers and debug formats
