Senior Hardware Engineer en Barcelona

We are looking for a proactive electronics senior engineer who values deep understanding of electronics and making products market-ready. Who brings a broad set of skills and who believe in teamwork, to join the Worldsensing Engineering team.

The selected candidate will join the team that develops Worldsensing’s IoT products, particularly in the Engineering team (besides there is Operations and Tech office). In engineering we are organized in 3 scrum-based teams that collaborate across the full product lifecycle, participating from definition to deployment. 2 of those are device centered and the other is software centered.

Candidates should be ready to collaborate with product definition by understanding the value proposition of the company and helping to craft the products, taking full advantage of technology. Candidates should be passionate about understanding technology and how its is mapped to applications, balancing with the company needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• discuss proposals with the internal “clients” (product manager and colleagues) and write the specifications of the product

• work with colleagues to design new systems, circuits and devices or develop existing technology

• test theoretical designs

• systematically improve the detailed design of a piece of electronic equipment

• ensure that a product will work with devices developed by others, can be made again reliably, and will perform consistently in specified operating environments;

• create user-friendly interfaces

• ensure regulations are met

• Collaborate with the team to carry out project planning and prepare budgets

• Collaborate with technicians, craftspeople and other colleagues

• Understand Worldsensing products to be able to define the engineering specs

Skills & Experience:

Must Have

• Deep knowledge in electronics engineering, at least 8 years of experience

• Hands on experience in designing and development of electronics for market; at least developed 3 products to the market that are produced in high numbers and available today

• Experience in designing for the desired cost

• Experience and understanding in certification and other regulation process

• Experience and understanding of aging testing

• Strong analysis and practical problem-solving abilities to resolve tech situations

• Experience in design of fixture for test at manufacturing plant

• Experience in collaborating with production teams to meet production numbers and deadlines

• Organization and project management skills

• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

• Ability to collaborate with external engineers or companies directly

• Oral and writing English and Spanish

Should

• Experience in low power designs

• Experience in electronics for communications

• Have some expertise in firmware development

• Have interest in the Maker movement

Could

• Experience in mechanical integration and tests

In addition to the above, we are looking for a teamplayer. This is an essential requirement as we always work in teams, within Engineering, but also with Product Management and other departments. We expect everyone in the company to be comfortable working together with others and to recognise the work of the rest of the team.

This is a permanent, full-time position in our Barcelona office.
