Summary
Checkout.com
is looking for a talented and experienced SQL Database Administrator to
support and maintain all SQL Server databases including their new AWS
production environment, as well as ensure their performance,
availability and security in a growing and challenging OLTP environment.
Engaging
with multiple teams across various disciplines, the DBA will be
responsible for all aspects of database administration, from deployments
to supporting testing, pre-production and production environments, with
emphasis on performance troubleshooting and database tuning.
The
ideal candidate is passionate about quality data and willing to
contribute to bring our database architecture to the next level of
world-class and innovative enterprise data management system.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor cloud based database systems to ensure secure services with high availability access and minimum downtime
- Troubleshoot and resolve production database issues and define SQL server permissions
- Perform database server specification, performance tuning, analysis and optimisation
- Ensure
that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases are
configured for high resilience and are tuned for optimum performance
- Collaborate with Database Developers and various engineers to analyse and resolve database performance issues
- Coordinate and implement database changes for in-house code releases and for database maintenance releases
- Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for database administration
- Day-to-day management of Database and associated tasks
- Pro-actively devise database improvement plan along with future database growth
- Provide on-call and operational support after hours, as needed
Skills & Experience
- At least 6 years’ DBA experience in a SQL environment
- Excellent knowledge of SQL and stored procedures
- Experience in a 24x7, high traffic OLTP environment
- Experience in database disaster recovery planning and recovery
- Previous exposure to AWS Cloud Platform
- Knowledge of MongoDB is a plus
- Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills
- BSc in Computer Science or equivalent - DBA Certifications are a plus
- Fluent in English
