Cloud DBA Engineer (Remote-first)
For the “Webfleet Solutions Cloud Service Platform”


The Cloud DBA will have full life cycle responsibilities for multiple database technologies. In this role, the person performing the role will demonstrate technical expertise while exhibiting outstanding customer service skills. This individual is a critical partner to the cloud migration project of the company, infrastructure, and future developments.

The Cloud DBA will work closely with the development and DevOps enablement teams to support various design, automation, performance tuning, and cloud migration initiatives. He/She will also have the responsibility of driving standard processes, troubleshooting methodologies, and setting the tone for quality and highly available cloud systems.

The person performing the role will also assist project teams in all phases of a project life cycle, including providing technical analysis/design services to projects through the delivery of recommended design. Paying special attention to the cloud migration phase. Strong knowledge of automated provisioning and management of Cloud-hosted databases, indexes, index management, statistics, integrity checks, configuration, patching, performance, replication, connectivity, backup and restore, networking, and security.

Need some more detail about your Day-to-Day?
  • Implement database solutions that are scalable and architected for high availability

  • Work with development and engineering teams for short- and long-term database planning, technology roadmap creation and operational improvements in the cloud databases.

  • Work together with the architecture team to align the cloud database roadmap with the on-premise systems.

  • Provide security audit reporting for compliance with GDPR and potentially ISO 27001 certification as required by the specific applications under scope.

  • Develop and adapt the processes needed to support changes in the different cloud platforms over time.

  • Demonstrable experience with automation technologies such as shell scripts, Ansible, or Terraform and creation of Jenkins pipelines for Cloud environments (i.e. Azure, AWS, OCI) applied to the DB paradigm.

  • Establish health checks to ensure optimal operation of IT systems.

  • Share knowledge and experience working directly with developers and DevOps to support escalation and technology advancement.

  • Optimize cloud environments to minimize cost and find synergies among the different components and systems.

  • Plan and support the transition to cloud hosted databases (Cloud native DBs, DBaaS or Containerized DBs), support evaluation whether managed or self-managed databased are the better choice, perform cost planning for database operation in cloud infrastructure

  • Ensure cloud databases software is updated and have the correct data protection backup and recovery plans and that these plans are exercised on a regular basis for local restoration needs.

  • Perform performance analysis that ensure the capacity of the system against the platform demand. Define the metrics that help the teams to make the correct decisions to mitigate issues in the cloud databases.

  • Execute and support cloning and capacity management for cloud databases to ensure maintainability and scalability of the whole system.

It will help you to be successful if you …
  • have a degree in computer science, or a similar background, or you just have enough professional experience to blow right through all your challenges.

  • are a great communicator, analytic, goal-oriented, quality-focused, yet still agile person who likes to work with software engineers; you will interact a lot with architects, developers from other teams, component owners and system engineers.

  • have experience with leading cloud database technologies (specially with Oracle).

  • have relevant certifications. They are not mandatory, but a plus.

  • are open to pick-up innovative technologies as needed by the teams.

  • speak English fluently.
