Abel is a young, fast-growing company that makes traveling more
affordable, more social by enabling ride sharing. You can book a ride
with our user-friendly app, where you book a seat, not a car. We are a
team of 10, located in the city centre of Amsterdam.
You get the chance to build Abel from a local start up to the global
ride sharing service, get as much responsibility as you’re willing to
take on to make our products come to life and provide customers with an
optimal user experience.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you are in the lead for:
•Developing our middleware (handling authentication, payments and Admin/ BI) API
• Maintaining existing and developing new functionalities
• Writing well designed, testable, efficient code
• Creating and maintaining software documentation
• Staying plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and applying them into operations and activities
• Cooperating with iOS & Android designers to create an optimal online user experience

What your team will look like
You will be part of a multi-functional team consisting of 5-7
developers, each with his/ her own speciality, that spend not only their
working time but also like spending their free time together. We value
your experience and opinion so we expect you to speak up and challenge
whenever there is room for improvement.
What skills we expect you have
We expect you to have:
• Minimum of 4 years experience in related work
• Knowledge of and experience with PHP, SQL, Symfony, Doctrine, Git
(incl. a sound Git workflow), Jira, continuous integration and the
Unix/Linux shell
• Experience with modern design patterns
• Fluent in English, Dutch is a plus
