Job Description
Role Purpose:
An
Email Developer builds, sets up and deploys emails and other campaign
elements that support strategic marketing programs for our clients. They
provide support to ensure Merkle clients emails are going to the inbox
and provide the client with reporting that gives them the information
they need regarding their email campaigns.

papers, case studies, KES sessions, and website content)
- Error

- Support
business development activities by responding to RFPs and contributing
to SOWs; identifying and quantifying opportunities within existing

capabilities. Ability to deliver the Merkle Digital Messaging Capability
message to prospects and customers
- Ensure all work being produced meets the highest standards of the Digital Messaging industry
- Contribute to innovation, process improvement and standardization across DMT capability
- Working knowledge and utilization of delivery monitoring and issue notification systems
- Working
knowledge of the automated and manual processing of spam complaints,
bounces, FBL, and capabilities of reply to handling for all Merkle
clients
- Work to establish business relationships with leading
Internet Service Providers, email Inbox Providers, email filtering, and
Anti-Spam solution vendors
- Access the Bounce logs and build understanding of the complexity of the different types of messages each email server will have
- Be able to support for all remediations involving ISP bulking, ISP blocking, Spam Filter issues, IP address Whitelisting
- Involved in the Reply Mail Management work. Able to address questions from the GDC
- Support/attend client meetings when needed
- Knowledgeable
and able to find and report on industry trends, updates and technology
that can affect Merkle client’s deliverability
- Develop the
skills to troubleshoot, problem solve, find root causes for issues,
issue remediation, mitigating future risk, strategic advice
- Support
post deployment data analysis, pulling data out, organizing data,
simplifying data and being able to present data for internal teams and
Merkle clients
- Be able to speak internally and externally on
List Hygiene, email Deliverability Best Practices, IP warming strategy,
and optimal email deployment details
- From time-to-time represent
Merkle at email industry panels/councils where deliverability is a key
focus for example MAAWG or the ESPC
- Ability to effectively
interact with Creative, Development, Operations, and Campaign Management
teams to define, set up, implement, and manage deliverability
monitoring. Ability to function in a high pressure/fast paced
environment with diverse clientele
Qualifications
Key Skills and Experience:
Skills:
- Base knowledge in how emails are coded HTML vs. Text
- Proficient in at least two of the following languages: HTML & CSS, SQL, Python, JavaScript
- Optionally, experience with ExactTarget’s email platform
- Excel
- Litmus
- Statistics (reporting only)
- Tableau (reporting only)
- Omniture
- FTP
- Solid understanding of relational database concepts
- Able to perform analysis of incoming data and understand how the data relates to requirements
- Understanding and ability to implement data loading and validation concepts
- SQL
Experience:
- 1-3 years experience in a fast-paced environment, and/or marketing analytics role
- Knowledge of the Major ISPs, email marketing, anti-spam technologies and the sender/receiver side of email a plus
- Monitoring/reporting campaign level data experience
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts a plus
Other:
- Bachelor’s
degree in computer science or comparable technical field, or work
experience that demonstrates comparable technical abilities required;
Master's preferred
- Ability to deliver a high quality of work,
with minimal supervision, to Fortune 500 clients. You “do things right
the first time” and are used to being trusted upon to build the best
possible solution in a reasonable timeframe
- Strong interpersonal
skills, with the ability to conceptualize and communicate highly
detailed technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Extremely proactive and highly organized, with the ability to work on multiple, complex projects and issues
