We are now looking for a Data Scientist who will help improve will help improve item search. We have a vast wealth of data: millions of user conversations, millions of annotated products and their images, tons of user-level app data and we want to leverage it to provide the best search experience to become the leading mobile marketplace.

Responsibilities:

• Create a world-class mobile search experience for our users.

• Hands-on implementation of search relevance solutions, including modelling, development, testing and debugging. A complete start-up experience.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience with ranking and relevance problems

• Strong quantitative skills (statistics, probability, machine learning) as well as knowledge of algorithms/data structures.
• ​Strong software development skills

• PhD in CS, Statistics, Math, Physics, or other quantitative field or MS with research experience

Nice To Have:

• Background in search engines, and ideally hands-on experience with Apache Solr or Lucene or Elastic Search

• Practical knowledge of NLP and search personalization techniques

• Familiarity with building and deploying data pipelines and services in AWS
• ​Experience with Query Understanding techniques
