About The Role

The User Experience (UX) designer will focus on delivering product innovation through compelling and rich user engagement experience for LivaNova's digital products and digital marketing efforts. In doing so, the UX designer will work across the entire UX lifecycle including UX research, UX strategy, UX design (UX/UI/visual) and UX optimization for mobile, web and other applications. From brainstorming to implementation, the UX designer is expected to work cross-functionally with internal teams such as engineering, product management, brand marketing, QA and R&D design teams as well as external stakeholders such as Physicians and Caregivers. Must have a passion for creating a user experience and design strategy that is simple, elegant, consistent and most important easy to use.

Role Responsibilities

Conceptualize ideas and then narrow based on experimentation and customer research as part of an agile team
Participate in and lead customer research, boiling feedback down to the functional, social and emotional jobs that customers expect from our products
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders (engineers, product managers, functional leads), and external stakeholders (physicians, caregivers) to build storyboards, proof-of-concept mockups, demos and prototypes of Digital products
Define user interface design standards for LivaNova digital products, to optimize ease-of-use and achieve an integrated and consistent look and feel
Design disruptive and intuitive User Interfaces (web, mobile, and other platforms), navigation tools, customer journeys and design client wireframes
Visualize, design and conceptualize user experiences - including information design hierarchy, process/screen flows, concept sketches, annotated wireframes, interactive prototypes, high fidelity visual mockups and optimized graphics production
Participate in visual problem-solving with the Strategic Designers and Product owners
Support usability tests to solve problems with interfaces and make them not only more user-friendly and intuitive, by predicting how users will utilize each element of the design
Support of design implementation by developers (understanding of technical issues and constraints)
Work with other graphic designers in order to maintain artistic and visual consistency across all web and mobile deliverables
Assess the usability of web and mobile interactions
Keep abreast of new technology, design trends and emerging UI patterns

What are we looking for?

Bachelor’s Degree with preference for studies in areas relevant to User Experience or medical device fields (e.g. STEM subjects, Arts, Psychology)
Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interactions
Ability to design new UI patterns for web, mobile and other products
Experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps
Good knowledge of HTML, CSS languages and a JavaScript framework for creating graphical components
Experience with icon design and pixel-level design graphic user interface (GUI), screen layout and composition page layout and composition animation
Good interactive prototyping skills - clickable prototypes with occasional advanced interactivity
Experience with projects of varying sizes and scopes
Ability to self-manage deadlines and maintain healthy relationships with project teams
Ability to present before large groups (3-15 people)
Expert level graphic design and prototyping tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Adobe Xd, Sketch, or similar
Exposure to Agile practices (nice to have - scrum master certification)
This position requires 25-35% travel
