About The Role

At Boats Group, our mission is to get the world on the water.  As a UI / UX Designer & Front Developer , you will work in a dynamic environment working with diverse, customer-facing project and product teams in the development of intuitive and elegant user interfaces. This person will develop and mature concepts through the full lifecycle from inception, and sketches, through implementation. The successful candidate will apply their expertise to enhance and enrich the user experience and/or aesthetics of our company’s image and brand through the creative use of color, photography, type, and layout. This position will be cross functional and work with the Creative, Marketing, Sales, Technology and Product Teams.

What You'll Do

    • Design and support the end-to-end user experience for multiple products/projects in a fast paced environment
    • Develop creative concepts for native mobile apps, web portals, back end tools, and customer websites based on company objectives while working with the creative team.
    • Conceptualize and implement original branded designs as well as create designs based on existing design standards.
    • Define user requirements and build wireframes, visual designs and mockups of the user interface for web-based projects.
    • Combine the work of front end design with back end development breaking designs into components and building code for each piece creating working websites experiences.
    • Implement responsive web design to facilitate quality experiences across a wide range of browsers, tablets and mobile devices.
    • Translate conceptual ideas (business needs and user goals) into intuitive and engaging  user experiences.
    • Collaborate with product owners, product managers and developers to estimate scope and adjust priorities of backlogs.
    • Participate in user research, Work alongside developers to maintain design consistency throughout implementation
    • Stay abreast of trends in web design and disseminate/share that information with peers
    • Promote design thinking and advocate design principles and best practices
    • Work with design systems and building on those systems for enterprise level apps
    • Build wireframes and static + dynamic mockups
    • Partner with product and business leaders to define UX strategy
    • Drive visual direction and strategy for prototyping and pilot efforts
    • Intuitively visualize complex data sets
    • Collaborate and work with other members of UI design team and R&D development teams to design simple, clean, & elegant user interfaces.
    • Ability to work on both wireframing and graphic design.

What You Must Have

    • Must provide portfolio or samples of professional work.
    • Must have proven experience designing for mobile applications
    • Experience coding HTML, CSS / CSS3 including: LESS, SASS, Media Queries, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery. Nice to have: React Native
    • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Balsamiq, Omni Graffle or Visio or InvisionApp or other interaction tool.
    • Experience in Figma is a plus.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience designing & developing rich user interfaces including mobile.
    • Experience setting up and operating an A/B testing software such as Optimizely
    • Passion for the research and usability-testing related aspects of the product-design life cycle
    • Experience working and designing in an agile environment
    • Self-motivated with excellent presentation and written/oral communication skills
    • Possess an ability to work independently or as part of a team
    • Be well organized and effectively manage time across multiple simultaneous production efforts
