We are currently looking for a Senior Technical Project Manager to come and join us in Europe as part of our new team developing the next generation integrated solution for the Telco Cloud Edge.
Job Description
As a Technical Project Manager, you will lead a growing team responsible for developing OpenNebula’s strategic investment to be the open-source edge infrastructure company for the Telco Cloud, Edge and 5G. OpenNebula's edge cloud infrastructure platform provides retail, automotive, manufacturing, industrial, telco and other edge market segments with a mission-critical environment for deploying virtualization and kubernetes on remote edge devices. The new integrated solution for the Telco Cloud and Edge will be rich enough to host complex applications but flexible enough to scale from hundreds to millions of instances and be deployed across different vertical edge market segments.
The role will be responsible for delivering successful IT projects to design, develop, integrate, deploy, maintain and validate with use cases a new cloud-edge integrated solution for the Telco Edge market. It requires a broad knowledge of the telco industry and related technologies, deep experience with networking and distributed applications, strong background in cloud systems integration, and previous exposure to large-scale software infrastructure architecture, methodologies and tools. He will work closely with users and use cases to understand needs and translate them into scalable and secure cloud architectures. He will also participate in the upstream community, on challenging projects deploying innovative edge/cloud systems. What you will do
- Technical management of international IT projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring adherence to project scope, milestones, KPIs, timelines, and budget
- Analyzing functional and systems requirements and key case studies for solutions to meet the demands of the Telco Edge market
- Defining the design, roadmap and prototype of the cloud-edge architecture for an end-to-end integrated solution for the Telco Edge market
- Designing the APIs, interfaces and data formats of the software components of the integrated cloud system
- Choosing the appropriate cloud services and technologies for the cloud system, and creating the documentation and diagrams of the Telco Edge integrated solution
- Development and technical leadership of the Telco Edge software components, and their integration, deployment and validation using industry use cases
- Utilizing industry-standard project management methodologies to deliver iterative solutions that align with project goals, including the scheduling, managing and coordinating of software releases
- Identifying and evaluating new technologies, innovations, and helps drive partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value; creates plans for integration and update into architecture
- Working with other companies in the cloud-edge ecosystem within international projects and open-source communities. Availability to occasional travel and participation in international events and meetings
- Writing and maintaining software documentation and project reports
- Creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
- Setting clear team goals, delegating tasks and set deadlines for your internal team
- Deploying agile methodology for geographically distributed international team in design, code, and test-plan reviews to help build robust software and promote knowledge sharing
- Working closely with development and engineering teams, and stakeholders to define project objectives, requirements, and deliverables that meet use cases, collaborations and team needs
- Support PMO in reporting on cost/roadmap/resource forecasting
- Contributing to the preparation of new project proposals in the field
What you will bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience delivering large-scale software projects, preferably including telco-industry infrastructure and/or workloads
- Hands-on experience in managing or contributing to open source projects
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization and to interact with external stakeholders
- Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in a timely manner
- Hands-on experience in Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined networking (SDN) applied to wireline and wireless networks
- Knowledgeable in 4G and 5G Radio network architecture and ecosystem, and 3GPP specifications
- Knowledgeable in Telco Edge operation, management and orchestration (e.g., MANO), MEX specifications, Network Management, OSS/BSS, and TM Forum standards
- Strong technical knowledge of open-source and/or disaggregated Telco solutions
- Broad experience with Linux operating system development, automation and performance tuning
- History of innovation with examples of developing new technologies, software architecture and designs
- Experience writing Terraform modules and managing deployments of virtualized infrastructures with Terraform
- Experience using public Clouds (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, etc…), understand the limitations and peculiarities of the networking and storage model of each provider
- Experience deploying and using monitoring and alerting tools like Prometheus. Design monitoring metrics and associated data structure. Elaborate and analyze usage reports obtained from the monitor data
- Experience with Cloud Management platforms and their associated technologies. Understand the implication of managing virtualized infrastructures and the orchestration of the underlying subsystems.
