Job Description

The Eurovision Services technology hub in Madrid is responsible for delivering media and broadcast solutions using the most advanced software engineering techniques. As part of the technology team, you will be working with top international engineers specialised in media and see your developments implemented in Tier 1 global sports and news content.

The Support Engineer will be part of a small, talented, and motivated core team that will support Eurovision Services in delivering the most innovative and reliable solutions for our customers around the world.

In this role as Support Engineer you will:

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the application systems in operations, including tasks related to identifying and troubleshooting application issues and managing resolution or escalations
  • Be responsible for logging and tracking incidents and service requests into our ticketing system and assign them to the relevant support teams
  • Manage the communication between end users and ICT supports teams
  • Configure and maintain the DevOps tools use by Eurovision Services
  • Promote process automation
  • Participate into the setup of monitoring solutions
  • Generate documentation in English

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate must have some experience working as part of a software engineering team.

  • Scripting language and programming experience (Java, Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Experience with Atlassian suite tools (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, etc.)
  • Experience with databases and distributed systems such as MySQL and Postgres
  • Familiar with containerization and Docker platform, orchestration tools including OpenShift and Kubernetes
  • Experience with monitoring solutions such as Graylog, Kibana, Elastic Search and Splunk
  • Experience on Linux and Windows running tools, scripts and applications themselves
  • System administration skills
  • Strong problem solving, ability to work under pressure with a high sense of urgency
  • Proactive, self-driven and able to identify improvements to address recurring issues, close monitoring gaps and automate/reduce manual work
  • Self-management and ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with remote teams

ADDED VALUE

Additional experience in the following areas would be a bonus:

  • Experience working collaboratively with geographically distributed and international teams (our headquarters are located in Switzerland),
  • Some experience in OTT/Media/Broadcast software development projects,
  • Knowledge of digital video concepts (container formats, codecs, compression schemes, tools, best practices, etc.),
  • ITIL certification.

EDUCATION

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or similar degree (Master or Bachelor) or Certificate of Higher Education (HNC).
