Job Description

Eurovision Services (ES) is looking for a Solutions Architect specialised in cloud technologies to join the Global Operations & Engineering team at our technology hub in Madrid, Spain.

ABOUT THE ES GLOBAL OPERATIONS & ENGINEERING TEAM

The ES Global Operations & Engineering department is the central point of contact for all customers receiving operational services from Eurovision Services, coordinating the management of requirements and delivery for all events, transmission and media services between broadcasters, EBU Members, sport federations and event organisers. The ES Global Operations & Engineering department is responsible for delivering high-quality technical solutions and achieving ambitious operational objectives, implementing reliable delivery solutions to provide outstanding value and services for our customers, while optimising costs to improve our bottom line.

The Solutions Architects team provides cutting-edge developments in broadcast services and designs new technical solutions to meet future business opportunities. The team is also responsible for L3 support and expertise regarding all digital services and broadcast services, ensuring business continuity for Eurovision Services.

The Solutions Architects team provides high-level digital and broadcast expertise to top management. Solutions Architects interface with customers, partners and suppliers to build an efficient and future-proof service architecture.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION

In this role as Solutions Architect, you will:

  • In collaboration with other solutions architects, design, code and maintain ES broadcast services and the solutions portfolio
  • Design, build and maintain on-premise and cloud-based security solutions
  • Be involved in the delivery of services to our customers and EBU members
  • Interact with senior level management to promote new ideas and ensure appropriate size and scope of proposed action plans
  • Provide in-depth technical advice on emerging production technologies to technical and management staff
  • Define high-level solution architecture to provide managed Media/Network services (including data, control and monitoring layers)
  • Define POC architecture for a customer demo and run the implementation
  • Lead the technical discussions with different providers and internal stakeholders to define the solution implementation plan including infrastructure (computing/network) and software
  • Write detailed specifications including API calls sequence used for third-party sub systems integration in a global architecture
  • Monitor and guarantee performance and availability of digital broadcast services
  • Develop continuous and disruptive innovation by investing time in research of technologies and solutions to extending our business and create new opportunities
  • Lead specific in-house software development as part of a solution
  • Provide L3 support

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate must have experience as a cloud architect and the following skills:

  • Good knowledge and experience of AWS infrastructure and services
  • Good knowledge of automation with Terraform, Ansible and Jenkins
  • Good knowledge of Kubernetes
  • Good knowledge of container technologies
  • Experienced with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc)
  • Experienced with micro-services, containers, API gateway, REST is required
  • Proficient with the design and delivery of scalable applications
  • Experienced in successfully deploying or migrating services/solutions to public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP…)
  • Strong experience designing or implementing API best practices as well as using design and architectural patterns
  • Aware of ITIL processes
  • Experienced with Linux environments
  • Comfortable with leading through complex conversations across multiple partners
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills
  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Professional level verbal and written communications skills in English

ADDED VALUE

Additional experience in the following areas would be a bonus:

  • Experience working collaboratively with geographically distributed and international teams (our headquarters are located in Switzerland)
  • Some experience in working on live sports events in a broadcast environment
  • AWS Architect Certification
  • Knowledge of French is a plus
