Eurovision Technology Hub is looking for a Software Engineer (Web development) to join the Eurovision Services (ES) Global Operations & Engineering team at our technology hub in Madrid, Spain.

ABOUT THE ES GLOBAL OPERATIONS & ENGINEERING TEAM

The ES Global Operations & Engineering department is the central point of contact for all customers receiving operational services from Eurovision Services, coordinating the management of requirements and delivery for all events, transmission and media services between broadcasters, EBU Members, sport federations and event organisers. The ES Global Operations & Engineering department is responsible for delivering high-quality technical solutions and achieving ambitious operational objectives, implementing reliable delivery solutions to provide outstanding value and services for our customers, while optimising costs to improve our bottom line.

As part of the software engineering team, you will be working with top international engineers specialised in media and will see your developments implementes in broadcast solutions for Tier 1 global sports and news content.. The Software Engineer will be part of a small, talented and motivated core team that will support Eurovision Services in delivering the most innovative and reliable solutions for our customers around the world.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION

In this role as Application Engineer you will:

  • Be responsible for implementing our next generation of web applications based on Agile/SCRUM methodology
  • Analyse requirements, design and write code for new features and user stories
  • Prepare and execute unit and integration tests
  • Participate in peer reviews and software inspections
  • Estimate and plan software development work
  • Identify and correct defects and their root causes
  • Partner with team members, end users and other development teams
  • Support users to evaluate and iterate on new features for a correct user experience
  • Brainstorm with other software engineering teams responsible for the backend developments, product owners and software architects
  • Research new technologies to solve relevant problems, delivering proof-of-concepts as required.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate must have advanced knowledge of software programming and

experience developing using Agile/SCRUM methodology:

  • Some years of experience working as part of a software development team
  • Some experience developing rich UI/Front-end for user-facing web applications
  • Proficiency implementing software in Java or PHP
  • Experience with JavaScript and frontend frameworks (Angular, Bootstrap, etc.), HTML5 and CSS
  • Comfortable with large projects in source control (Git, SVN), continuous integration and writing unit tests
  • Interest and aptitude to independently learn new technologies
  • Must be capable of working independently to solve problems
  • A willingness to learn and apply software engineering best practices to your work
  • As with any engineer we hire, the ability to communicate well in English is crucial (English is the working language)

ADDED VALUE

Additional experience in the following areas would be a bonus:

  • Experience working collaboratively with geographically distributed and international teams (our headquarters are located in Switzerland),
  • Some experience in OTT/Media/Broadcast software development projects,

EDUCATION
