Job Description

At BridgeU, we make educational decisions data-driven through predictive analytics, and we use machine learning to better prepare students for the next stage of their educational and professional journeys. One of the top 20 Startups in Europe (by EdTech Europe), and having closed a large investment round ($3.5m) from top global investors, BridgeU is one of the most innovative, fast-growing Education Technology businesses in Europe.

Our teammates are talented people that come from a variety of backgrounds. We’re committed to building an inclusive culture based on trust and kindness, which creates a good work environment that helps enriching the product and support we serve to our customers.

We currently have offices in London, Madrid and Hong Kong. This role, based in the Madrid office, gives you the opportunity to travel regularly between our offices to have face-to-face time with other team members to bond, work together and have some fun.

What you’ll be doing:

As a member of the Product, Data & Engineering team you’ll be working with teammates in London and Madrid, collaborating with Product Managers and Designers. Together you’ll scope and plan features to provide quality solutions to the necessities of our customers and contribute to the growth of the company.

We have created an environment where collaboration and learning are highly encouraged, trusting each others’ decisions and empowering autonomy. Our development process involves paired programming sessions and code reviews that give us the opportunity to learn something new and bring useful discussions every day. We are committed to supporting the movement towards a fully remote, distributed team and the way we communicate with each other reflects this long-term goal.

You'll be joining a smart, ambitious team, in an exciting, fast-growth environment. You will be a key hire in Madrid and will have the opportunity to work closely with senior management, and influence how we continue to develop this part of our organisation.

What you’ll bring:

*Professional experience with Ruby, accompanied by broad knowledge of Rails.
*Professional experience working with PostgreSQL or any relational database system.
*Professional experience with any Javascript framework or an openness to exploring full-stack engineering.
*Understanding of the value of writing performant code and applying good programming practices, along with the ability to balance pragmatism over perfection in your work.
*Experience writing tests and willingness to maintaining them.
*Proficient written and oral communication skills. Previous experience working in remote teams would be helpful.
*If you’re not sure you fit every one of these requirements, but you think you have the potential to do the role, we’d still love to hear from you.

What we’ll provide

*Competitive salary depending on your experience
*Personal development: the company can fund books, courses and conferences that can help you learn and grow.
*Investment time: every two weeks on Friday we spend time learning or collaborating with projects that can benefit the company or the community.
*Opportunities for flexible and remote working hours, encouraging everyone to have a healthy work-life balance
*Annual offsite: we organise a retreat once a year where the whole company gets together
*Regular socials and early finish Fridays once a month
*A comfortable office stocked with fruit, tea/coffee, snacks
*Career progression and development
*An open and democratic work culture where everyone can contribute, learn and teach

Our Culture

We strive to be an awesome company to work for, making sure that the right processes are in place for everyone to work at their best. We believe strongly in work life balance and offer a work from home day, flexible working hours and 10% investment time.

Equal Opportunities

We are a global team with a global mindset, cherishing and protecting diversity as one of our core values. We are always looking to diversify the talent in our team and with that in mind would especially encourage applications from female candidates, and any candidates from an ethnic minority background.

Applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion, belief, marriage or civil partnership
