Permutive is looking for a Software Engineer to help connect our real-time data management platform to the rest of the world.
Our JavaScript runs on millions of devices every day, and as a core
part of the Permutive platform it is essential that it is an efficient,
performant and maintainable codebase. We are looking for an engineer to
take full ownership of our JavaScript SDK - maintaining the roadmap,
planning new features and seeing them through to deployment.
An ideal fit would be a recent graduate with a Computer Science
background, who perhaps plans to be a co-founder and wants to get a
deeper understanding of early stage startups. Or you'll be a more
experienced engineer with some JavaScript experience, who is keen to
join a growing engineering team and make a real difference. Either way
you'll be excited by the opportunity to join a fast-growing start-up, in
a role where you'll be able to take ownership of a core part of the
platform.

*Key Responsibilities*
On a day-to-day basis you will:
* Maintain a roadmap for the JavaScript SDK and plan new features
* Manage deployment of our JavaScript tag when putting new customers live
• Debug and resolve JavaScript tag issues, and work closely with customers to fix errors
• Write custom JavaScript code to enable clients to send custom data into Permutive
• Communicate with both customers and partners, to spec out and build client-side JavaScript integrations
* Find ways to optimise code, to ensure it is clean and performant
* Build an automated test framework for our JavaScript SDK
As an early hire you will also have the opportunity to be exposed and
contribute to every aspect of the business, from product decisions and
development processes to strategy.
*Requirements*
We think to be brilliant in your role you really need to have:
• A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or the equivalent in work experience
• Ability to write performant client-side JavaScript code
• Knowledge of jQuery, AJAX, cookies, browser storage, HTML and CSS
• Ability to efficiently debug code using Chrome’s DevTools
• Have a broad understanding of software engineering concepts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
It would be a plus if you have any of these:
* Knowledge of TypeScript
• Experience with more advanced JavaScript concepts like modules, futures and websockets
• Experience writing an SDK to enable interaction with a product, service or API
• Experience with JavaScript testing frameworks, such as Zombie.js
• Experience with JavaScript build frameworks, such as Grunt
• Experience writing server-side JavaScript with Node.js
* Experience in a client-facing or technical support role
