The Red Hat Storage Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us remotely. In this role you will be part of a team that develops the management and monitoring features of our industry leading software-defined storage solution, Red Hat Ceph Storage. The work will include working on Linux developments that utilize systemd, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift environments, with the goal of making our offerings for the end users and customers more effective with every release. You'll be contributing code to one of Red Hat's main initiatives. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do
- Help determine the technical details of how to implement key monitoring and management functionality on our Ceph supported deployments on Linux, OpenShift, and Kubernetes
- Work closely with engineers on Red Hat OpenShift and Ceph to become a contributor to the upstream and downstream Red Hat OpenShift projects to deliver functionality
- Cooperate with multiple teams within Red Hat and with the open source community
- Educate the team on new features by pull request reviews or small team presentations
- Work with the Quality Engineering team to ensure projects are tested correctly
- Publicize the work the team is doing via blogs, web postings, or conference talks
What you will bring
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, or demonstrated equivalent experience; master's degree is a plus
- 2+ years of system software development experience
- Solid experience writing code for B2B organizations, ideally using Go or Python
- Experience with Linux, Kubernetes, Ansible, or other container tools
- Experience with Git, GitHub, and Jenkins
- Experience in implementing front end applications using Javascript, Angular, React, or Typescript
- Experience with Linux operating systems
The following are considered a plus:
- Knowledge of monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus
- Experience working with distributed teams and working on open source software projects
