Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have the following knowledge and skills:
- BS or MS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- Working as Software Development Manager for at least 5 years
- Experience in B2B
- Fluent in English
Technical & Operational Skills:
The Software Development Director position requires experience in:
- Software development using Agile Methodology, and knowledge of C and Python in complex distributed systems environment
- Capability to solve operational problems through software solutions
- Capability to take into account complex multiple source of feedback and build clear vision, roadmap and action plan
- Ability
to deal with conflicting priorities under pressure: namely short term
customer commitments, maintenance (bug fixing, support) and driving a
solid product improvement roadmap
- Strong focus on proactive delivery, not just on customer commitments but on driving his/her vision as well
Leadership Skills:
- Working within large software development teams: 50+
- Managing more than 1 team of developers
- Managing and coaching tech leads/lead developers
- Managing large teams in flat organization structure, i.e.15 direct reports
- Managing software impact between cross-functional teams
NB: previous experience in managing a team with an infrastructure mission in critical environments would be a plus
Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong
interpersonal and multi-cultural skills to bridge gap between business
customers, Scality distributed field forces, product managers and
developers across multiple countries and time zones.
- Searching for and integrating third party / open source solutions

- Making packaging and installation of the product simple and successful in a complex environment
- Improving tools for customer operations through supervision and management applications and interfaces
