THE ROLE

We are a growing, talented, and diverse group of software and operations engineers solving some of the most interesting and exciting challenges of software delivery and automation at scale.

You might be a candidate if you:

  • Are currently a seasoned DevOps engineer, operations engineer, cloud engineer, or full-stack developer.
  • Have experience running production software.
  • Have experience designing software delivery pipelines from development to production.
  • Have leveraged automation, metrics, and logging to improve products and processes.
  • Have an intellectual curiosity to pursue the unknown and to continuously improve.

We are looking for talented Site Reliability Engineer to work on our leading commerce platform. You will take on the platform operations team for our high-profile clients.

The candidate must demonstrate a solid understanding of Network, System, and Database engineering and operations providing a high-level of customer service for ensuring platform availability and peak performance. The SRE will administer Monitoring, Logging, and Alerting systems driving their extensibility and accuracy. You will have a keen eye for recognizing and driving out inefficiencies while taking the initiative to simplify processes for our customers. You will not be afraid to relentlessly escalate and consistently raise the bar for skill and customer service. You will have a deep understanding of IaaS/PaaS best practices and technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of operational services—from inception and design, through deployment, operation and refinement.
  • Ensure availability, enhance, and maintain our entire IaaS/PaaS/SaaS platform.
  • Maintaining and optimizing services, once they are live, by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
  • Troubleshoot and triage issues to resolution; trigger, manage, and coordinate escalations, when required, to restore any customer service.
  • Follow and promote quality best practices from all sides of software engineering and platform operations.
  • Design, implement, and maintain solutions that contribute to the automation of code/infrastructure changes.
  • Maintain, enhance and ensure good health of all Magento SaaS products.
  • Enhance and maintain Problem and Incident Manager Solutions.
  • Constantly maintaining the KEKB (Known-Error Knowledge Base)
  • Be part of a multi-region 24x7 team.
  • Actively participate in high level team activities such as architecture or process improvements.
  • Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems/retrospectives.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience working on delivering and operating as DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Operations Engineer or Software Engineer
  • Experience working with hyperscale cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
  • Understands the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP/Python/Perl) stack from OS/WebServer/Database and Application along with AWS/Network/WAF/CDN
  • Experience using/implementing CI/CD frameworks.
    • Application deployment (Git, Jenkins, Composer, etc.).
    • Infrastructure provisioning tools (Chef/Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
    • Extensive infrastructure automation via shell scripting (Python, BASH, etc.).
  • Extensive experience with Monitoring / Logging / Alerting systems.
  • Experience using Problem and Incident Manager Solutions.
  • Experience using KEKB (Known-Error Knowledge Base)
  • Intellectual curiosity to pursue the unknown and to continuously learn.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Good communication skills and a desire to work in a team-based environment.
  • Must be able to speak and write in English.

Would be a plus:

  • Experience with Docker or Linux Container technologies (Mesos, Kubernetes, Rancher, Docker Cloud, AWS ECS)
  • Experience with high traffic production websites or services.  
  • Experience developing and using web services and APIs.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL technologies (such as MariaDB Galera, AWS Aurora, MySQL, Percona, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redshift, or other)
  • Skills in data analysis or data science especially using cloud based technologies.
