We are looking for a Senior UX Engineer with a passion to pivot to more Product Design work. Your designs will help ensure our users get the most out of our technology platform while providing solutions for complicated problems by delivering simple and intuitive solutions to users.
As a Senior product designer and UX Engineer, you will work with members of the Design and Engineering teams to drive quality between teams. You will impact on the growth of a more technical and impactful UX organization via a combination of understanding our user's technical needs, industry trends, deep product knowledge, and engineering/design know-how. Partnering with researchers, designers, and writers to define and deliver new features, translate concepts into living, breathing prototypes, and iterate on interactions, animations, and details to deliver the perfect experience.
What You’ll Do
Developer-Centric Design: Data-driven product design with Figma to drive empathy of our target users who are engineers too. Support our XD Vision of applying our understanding of these niche users in the context of the broad dev tools space. With your technical lens, help ensure that we raise the bar on design quality at New Relic, both upstream (when considering capabilities in the concept phase) and downstream (when testing with users and in implementation).
Design Concepting: Play a key role leading Directly the design evolution of the NR1 platform via new user-centric concepts and improvements to the UI, information, and flow. Blend strategic design thinking with technical product knowledge while applying lean test-and-learn methodologies.
Prototyping: Considering complex modern designs cannot be understood well from a static mock, you will build prototypes and proofs of concept in code (e.g. with the exact motion, interaction, and layout) to aid in the discovery process, facilitate better feedback, help designers iterate, and help communicate ideas to engineering. You’ll help optimize the team’s efficiency to iterate on concepts while also improving the quality of user feedback from prototypes that emulate the real product.
Technical Product Design Stewardship: Guiding and mentoring team members you will act as a steward of the technical/product maturity of designers via training, onboarding, and improved screening processes to help to raise their technical acumen and product understanding.
