London can be one of the loneliest cities in the world, we’re trying to change that.
Friendrequest will launch in 2018.
Social media is an incredibly crowded space, a lot of other companies have tried and failed to break the 'make a new friend' app market, but none have really taken off yet. We think we know why.
First of all, because they become dating apps, or the worst people on the internet ruin them.
Secondly, it's really hard to get people to come outside of an app to meet a stranger.
And finally, the UI is clunky, difficult to use and it's really hard to find people that you actually like. Despite all the buzz words like 'advance super technical algorithms' being thrown around, the matching systems are poor, we're changing that.
If these sound like interesting problems, and you want to hear how we're planning to solve them, or even better if you have your own ideas, we'd love to chat.
A little more about the role.
You'll be working closely with an amazing technical team, of which you'll be the 4th member.
We're a social company with some great perks. We went over to Berlin together for a mid week break in December, and we have regular team nights out which have included crazy golf, go karting and a rooftop bar. We offer flexible working and some remote options, and spend most of our time in an old school that's been turned into a coworking space.
We eat a lot of pizza, actually we eat a lot in general, we go out for food as a team all the time, it's a fun culture.
We're looking for someone who has
- 2-3 years relevant commercial experience
- Experience with Python
- Worked in an Agile environment
- Experienced with Git and Continuous Integration development environments
- Excellent spoken and written communication in English
Ideally you'll also have
- A degree, or relevant experience, in computer science, or related subject
- Worked for a startup before
- Experience with Flask
- Enthusiasm, independency and an attitude for taking ownership and responsibility for you tasks
You should be comfortable with tight deadlines, making some tricky decisions on your own, and weighing into bigger product decisions. There's a lot of support when you need it, and a really talented team to support you.
If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, get in touch. This will come directly to me, the hiring manager, and if you're a good fit I'll drop you an email to set up a call within the next couple of days.
