Senior Data Scientist in Madrid
Cities of the world are changing the way we move within them. People, as well as companies, are responsible for reducing pollution, increasing the accessibility and improve the use of public spaces.
At BotOn, we offer mobility solutions for companies that want to optimize their mobility performance.
We’re currently growing, hiring new talent. We need help, and we want to hire a Senior Data Scientist to join our team.
Who you are
Superstar? Pass. Friendly and thoughtful? Let’s talk.
We are looking for Managers of One: people that come up with their own goals and work on them. They don’t need constant check-ins. They do what a manager would do — set the tone, assign items, know what needs to get done, etc.
Full-stack nowadays could mean anything. And you know it. What we mean by full-stack is a person that’s not scared of writing excellent APIs while fixing small CSS bugs for making a button perfect. An all-terrain person.
If you consider yourself a learner, a thoughtful, kind, supportive person, you might fit in here.
We do think -as a lot of other tech companies- that diversity is essential for making great software, and that it has a more profound value beyond money. That’s the reason why we are working on building the most diverse we can (gender, race, age, people with functional diversity, etc.), people with different backgrounds, experiences, and capabilities.
We believe that better products are built when the team is genuinely inclusive. The more diverse we are as a team, the more impact we have as a company.
What it’s like to work here
We’ve an office in Alcobendas, Madrid, Spain but we work from home (or whatever you want) 99% of the time. We will give you the tools and resources to make a healthy environment where you can focus on doing your work.
We work with geodata, so you will be working with data points, polygons, multipolygons, geoJSON, shapefiles, etc. Your role will be to help us to understand what our tracked vehicles and/or assets (or even pets!) do, how they behave, which trends do we have, how we can forecast issues, etc. Here, the sky is the limit and this is one of the key features of this position: you will drive and explore our data in order to provide more resources and products that our developers, product and business teams can use to make our product unique.
Also, we encourage everyone to have their own voice. None of us are right all the time, and we need to hear when we are wrong.
Here’s what we offer
- Salary based on your skills and experience.
- Full-time job.
What skills do you need
For this job we are looking for a scientist that has a good background on data analysis with tools like Pandas, NumPy, GeoPandas, etc. While we are not set on the technology, our backend is built with Python, so we would love to have everything in Python but this is something that we can discuss. Our database is PostgreSQL and we use the popular PostGIS extension. Thus, you should have some knowledge about PostGIS and how to work with geospatial data to find trends, do forecasting, etc regarding our trackers.
