The position:

As an Android Developer you will work improving the app, building beautiful user interfaces and implementing new features written in Kotlin, that adheres to Material design and software development best practices. You'll be working closely with your product manager and designers as well as developers from other teams in order to create the best possible mobile experience. At Jobandtalent the Android team is organised in the Android Guild divided into the different product verticals. We work in cross-functional teams and keep a strong cohesive structure with all mobile technologies within the Android Guild in close collaboration with iOS Guild as well.

In your daily, you will face

    • We would like to show you some of the technologies we work with. Don't worry, you don't need to know all of them, but you should be willing to learn and grow with us.
    • A fully functional Android app written in Java/Kotlin
    • It is built in a modularised clean architecture fashion, and we are using MVP pattern at the moment. Our dependency injector preference is Dagger 2 vanilla
    • It is a JSON-API powered application which uses Retrofit, OkHttp and Gson as a backbone for communicating with our server
    • In the UI area, we invest heavily in Design Systems, we believe that it is a great way to speed up the development, by having a library of components we can reuse throughout the different screens or features
    • A large tested codebase by using JUnit5, Mockito and Robolectric for Unit testing, plus Espresso for E2E and Shot for Screenshot testing. We use both Mockito and KoTest to help us with the assertions and DaggerMock for mocking in the Espresso
    • Jobandtalent is a data-driven company, so one of our focus is analytics through Google and Firebase, and also tracking relevant telemetry through Datadog and LeakCanary
    • Our tooling includes Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins, Codeship, and obviously we throw some Gradle in the mix
    • All the project organisation is done through Jira, Github, Slack and Google Meet. You will be meeting people from different countries, so communication skills will be crucial
    • We expect to drive the app to the next level, so we are expecting to improve it with the latest Android technologies

A successful candidate will face

    • At least 3-5 years’ experience with Java/Kotlin programming language and Android framework
    • Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous integration, build processes, and testing
    • Staying at the forefront of emerging Android trends
    • Good communication skills both verbally and in writing, even when you work remotely

Nice to have

    • At least 1 demonstrable App published in Google Play
    • Attending often to meetups and software conference
    • Participating actively in Open Source project
    • Knowledge of other backend languages or JavaScript
    • Previous work with UI design system and component libraries
