ROLE OVERVIEW

The App Experience team at Brainly is working on some of the most complex challenges in the ed-tech space: creating communities for students worldwide. We focus on building the infrastructure enabling Brainly users to ask and answer millions of questions daily. An essential part of our work is to deliver and maintain the Snap-to-solve. The feature is based on an ML solution that allows finding the best answer instantly.

We are taking over the world and looking for strong engineers who are ready to push boundaries and help us solve large-scale problems with solutions that translate into lasting impact.

We want to be the best educational app in the world and are currently looking for an experienced Senior Android Engineer to help us build it. This role also works as part of an interdisciplinary team and acts as the key stakeholder by planning, prioritizing, and executing to achieve product vision in all markets. An important part of that role will be supporting the Delivery Manager in building the Android teams by mentoring and coaching less experienced colleagues.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Executing and improving software development life cycle (SDLC), including proper planning, analysis, designing, implementation, testing and maintaining code for the Brainly platform
  • Building solutions according to requirements, adhering to company standards, conventions, and best practices.
  • Solving complex technical challenges such as performance, scalability, high reliability and security
  • Collaborating with the development team, with such roles as Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers, UX Designers, Product Managers, Delivery Managers and other stakeholders
  • Conducting meaningful peer code reviews
  • Writing high-quality documentation
  • Maintaining existing systems by monitoring, troubleshooting, debugging and fixing software defects
  • Taking part in the recruitment process as a technical recruiter and helping hire great engineers
  • Sharing knowledge and expertise with others in the company
  • Guiding and mentoring peers with less experience.

 

WHAT MAKES YOU THE PERFECT CANDIDATE

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Kotlin Coroutines, Dagger2 and Android Jetpack
  • Experience in building MVVM / MVI based features
  • Experience in writing testable code
  • Proficiency in Kotlin
  • Excellent knowledge of Android Framework (lifecycle, good practices, tools)
  • Computer science fundamentals – data structures and design patterns
  • Solid knowledge of SOLID principles
