Job Description

Interested in applying your great computer science knowledge to applied computer vision and machine learning applications? Want to work in a startup, get paid properly, and have meaningful equity?

Xihelm is a venture-backed, applied deep computer vision startup working in smart cities and security, and is an Entrepreneur First graduate. We have real enterprise and government customers, and are working on some cool recognition tasks that could save billions, and hopefully even save lives. Good luck trying to find much out about us on Google though :)

There’s a good chance to help define our culture as employee #3. So far, we enjoy our “Wednesday night is pub night”, and the CEO’s impressive trigger finger at Laser Quest. What would you like to do?

We’re looking for impressive people. Think you can implement a memory-optimised A* search in the time most people eat their biscuit? Come talk to us.

Responsibilities

* Work with the research and development team, helping to implement machine learning algorithms, making them work faster and scaling them up.
* Ensure reusability of code, commits and tests.
* Help to implement our Computer Vision API.

Minimum qualifications

* MSc. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics.
* 2 years of experience in software engineering.
* Able to code in different languages (Python/ C++/ Java/ C)
* Knowledge of Shell/Bash scripting and Linux environment.
* Understand database design (particularly SQL).
* Passion to stay at the “practical cutting edge”.
* Loves to write code test, improve code and make it run faster.

Preferred qualifications

* Worked in a research setting (e.g. national labs or postdoc).
* Designed REST APIs
* Experience with deep learning frameworks (preferably Tensorflow/Torch).
* Architected/managed distributed systems and/or cloud computing.
* Able to code with any web framework, especially Django, AngularJS.
* A publication history, Kaggle record or active github profile you’re proud of.

Please note

* At the moment we aren’t able to sponsor visas or support remote work unfortunately. You’ll need to be an EU citizen or authorised to work in the UK, and be willing to work from our funky office in London.
* Sorry, no agencies or consultants, thanks.
* Otherwise, please do connect with me.
