What you’ll be doing day to day

•Now is your opportunity to join as a Product UX Design Director in the customer domain to influence the creation of digital experiences in our physical stores for billions of customers and 166,000+ coworkers around the world.
•You are passionate about people and design, with a personal driver to be the enabler of other’s personal and craftmanship growth
•You will team up with Head of Product, Head of Engineering and Data Directors where you are jointly responsible for a subset of products and the empowerment of cross-functional teams
•You will manage Product UX discovery, strategy, design direction and delivery for your responsibility areas, in order to deliver excellent and unique IKEA digital experiences across all touchpoints
•You will drive a deep understanding of the user through leading and directing various iterative user research methodologies in order to create relevant solutions for our users
•You will define Experience Design best practices by continually benchmarking against industry standards to continuously validate and improve deliverables

To succeed in the role, we see that you have experience in many of the following:

Extensive experience in leading, managing, coaching, developing senior and product UX designers promoting individual growth and mentorship. Previous people management experience is a must

Experience creating digital tools used in the physical environment
Growing design maturity and understanding of the value of human-centred design across the organisation

Extensive knowledge of leading and working in an agile, highly collaborative team of product, tech, and data co-workers

You have a strong and compelling leadership portfolio communicating your leadership beliefs, capabilities, notable career achievements, case studies of your leadership skills, projects your teams have delivered, and more

You have a background in product design, service design, or experience design, business transformation, information systems, or another related field

Where our Digital Transformation is allowing us to create new ways we meet and interact with our customers and co-workers, our Digital Experience Design team is responsible for shaping what the future actually looks like. The team has a clear vision: to create everyday digital experiences for the many people through our human-centric methodologies that enable design, inspiration and innovation.

The Customer domain covers a wide range of experiences and products for Customer' Home Furnishing shopping journey both online and in-store. We strive to deeply understand our customers' needs no matter how they interact with IKEA.


This role reports to the Head of Product UX Design and is available in Madrid, Malmo and Amsterdam. Our organization has coworkers in Amsterdam, Malmo, Madrid, Shanghai and Philadelphia.
