Job Description

labfolder is a software company that develops an online electronic lab notebook (ELN) for scientists. By transforming the traditional paper lab notebook into a productivity & collaboration platform, we make it easier for scientists to create, find, share, discuss and validate research data.

Our diverse team of scientists, technologists and entrepreneurs is building the operating system of the lab, connecting researchers, data, devices and processes.

MISSION

1. Gathering information to make smart product decisions

  • You will collect information from internal stakeholders such as marketing, customer success and sales in order to learn about the needs and ideas of our users.

  • You will comb through our databases to find data that could drive decisions. In the longer term, you will define relevant KPIs for our product and set up a strategy to gather the required data.

  • You will perform market analyses to learn about trends, and to get new insights.

  • You will work with the finance department and the management team to thoroughly estimate ROI of potential features and customer projects.

  • You will design surveys, conduct interviews and moderate focus groups with our community of beta-testers.

  • You will communicate with the development team to understand technical challenges, gather preliminary effort estimations and be aware of resource availability.

2. Being in charge of our roadmap

  • Under the supervision of our CPO, you will work with the entire team and all our available data to design, manage and regularly finetune our product strategy.

  • You will work with the management team to ensure that the product roadmap fits with our business requirements and aligns with the product vision that you help develop.

  • You will interact closely with our designer/product owner to transform feature ideas into detailed requirements for the development team.

  • You will provide the team with realistic estimations of production phases in the short, middle and long-term. You will ensure that it is being well communicated across the company.

  • You will plan major releases: you will decide on when and how to deliver newly developed features to our customers.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • You should have at least 1 year of experience in software product management. An academic background in business or informatics is an advantage.

  • You should be customer-focused: you can put yourself in the lab coat of our diverse user groups to understand their needs and anticipate their demands. The satisfaction of our users should be your central preoccupation.

  • You should be business-oriented: you take into consideration the economic reality in each step of your process and have in mind that thinking about profitability is essential when making product development decisions.

  • You should be able to participate in establishing internal processes, in order to optimize team-work and increase productivity.

  • You should have experience in compiling information, carrying out surveys, data analysis and reporting.

  • You should be attentive to details and have the ability to translate abstract feature concepts into concrete requirements.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Our product matters: we simplify the work of scientists and help them make great discoveries.

  • We are a small team (25 people): we work together, help each other grow and welcome initiative.

  • On Wednesdays, we have a focus day without meetings. If you want to work from home or a café, that’s not a problem.

  • We respect work-life balance and are family friendly: you can define your own schedule between 8 am and 7 pm, plus we have a dedicated quota for home office days.

  • A top-floor office next to Treptower Park in Berlin.

  • Startup perks: drinks, TGIF beers, ice-cream in the freezer, a ping-pong table, regular BBQs and other events.

labfolder welcomes diversity and strives for an inclusive environment. We accept all applicants regardless of gender, ethnic background, appearance, age or disability, which is represented in our diverse workforce. We respect our colleagues the way they are, and value differences between people.
