Job Description

Wallapop is a Barcelona based scale-up driven by the purpose to empower people to embrace a more conscious and human way of consumption. We believe in a world where collaborative economy is mainstream. This is what drives us.

Wallapop operates in Spain, Italy and Portugal, offering a catalogue of several hundreds of millions of products and services. Powered by technical innovation and continuous improvement, we bring together the scale & trust of classifieds with the marketplace’s convenience & reach. Our mission is to enable a connected trade ecosystem, making 2nd-hand the norm through smart use of technology.

Backed by top investors such as Accel, Insight Partners & Naver Corp we bring our total valuation to 690 million EUR and are embarking on our international journey with the aim to become the world’s best unique goods trading platform.

The Challenge

We are looking for an experienced product designer to be a strategic partner for our technology and product teams. Someone who is passionate about creating new digital experiences, capable of identifying the right user and business problems to solve for, and designing the right experience, from concepts all the way to specs and prototypes.

You must be able to lead projects with minimal oversight, build and execute a roadmap for design workstreams, and partner with the product and engineering team in the definition and prioritization of the problems tackled. You thrive in team settings and are aligned with our vision: We believe in an alternative way of consuming. And what we do every day is focused on creating the most powerful, easy, and best tool for real people to buy and sell second-hand stuff.

What You Will Do

  • Design digital products and services, from interaction concepts to the smallest details across all platforms. Own the end-to-end design process from the very early research to beautiful final UI. Contribute to the creation of a consistent experience for Wallapop users.
  • Synthesize and interpret large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Conduct & collaborate with user research to identify main user insights and opportunity spaces, and transform these into powerful concepts and designs.
  • Take research-informed decisions, having our users in the centre of what we do and where we want to go.
  • Conduct usability tests to evaluate concepts and designs before the implementation.
  • Collaborate with the product owner and other team members in the ideation of projects. And lead the design process across their entire lifecycle and multiple product launches.
  • Work closely with different multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate with the design team on global execution, guidelines, and approvals.
  • Be 100% autonomous. You’ll take full ownership of one of our projects and be responsible for every little detail.
  • We strive for the best and expect a proactive & creative mind always willing to surprise and go a step beyond.

What We’re Looking For

  • Solid experience of 5+ years designing digital products. Experience focused on mobile is a plus.
  • Experience in interaction design methods such as wireframing, concept models, scenarios, and user flows. Can communicate vision and ideas with different artifacts.
  • Expert level of Fimga or similar. Experience with Prototyping tools would be a plus.
  • "User-centric / people-focused” mindset. You always try to hone your unique ideas through users' honest feedback, whether through hands-on user research or by working on different options for an A/B test. You empathise with and listen to your users. You bring them into your office to let them tell you that your design doesn’t work and is absolutely understandable.
  • Experience contributing as a core designer on teams working on user-centred experiences, products, and services.
  • Experience applying design thinking in an agile environment, and you're used to facilitating sessions & workshops with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent team player with great communication skills when interacting with stakeholders and users.
  • Fluency in English and advanced level in Spanish. Other languages are a plus.
  • Experience in marketplace/e-commerce product design end-to-end cycle is a plus.

Do note that all our jobs are Barcelona based. We work in a mostly remote capacity offering great flexibility to our employees, but we believe in the power of getting together regularly in our office. As a first iteration, we expect a 4+ day/month office attendance for which the specifics are decided on a team level.

Wallapop is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees as we want Wallapop to be a place for everyone.

We sponsor visa processes for international candidates when applicable and provide legal & admin support along the process combined with a competitive relocation package.

Additionally to the opportunity to contribute to an agile product set up and work together towards achieving our meaningful mission, we offer the following Perks & Benefits:

  • Competitive phantom shares package for all employees
  • Generous individual learning budget of 2k per year + our very own Wallalibrary
  • Group and individual English & Spanish lessons as part of our working day

  • Flexible remuneration to deduct from gross salary (kindergarten/food/transport check)
  • Gym & Wellness plan, including physiotherapist in the office
  • Generous referral Program & Charity Donation
  • Extended newborn & adoption leave
  • Bonus for weddings & newborns
  • Wallarenta (Tax income support)
  • Monthly plan for free shipping, bumps & home-pick-up on our services

  • Contribution towards your WIFI in your monthly payroll
  • One-off payment based on compensation package to go towards setting up your wallahome office
