At Ocado Technology we design and build the platform that powers Ocado, the world’s largest online-only grocery retailer. Beyond this, we are putting the world’s retailers online, including Morrisons (UK), Kroger (USA), Casino (France), Sobeys (Canada) and ICA (Sweden). We provide an entire platform from mobile apps, website, fulfillment (automated warehouses, store pick solutions), back-office systems to delivery solutions, all crafted by our passionate team of software engineers. We are looking for a Product Analyst to join our team, as we continue to push the boundaries of online shopping.

As a Product Analyst in Ocado Technology, you will work closely with product owners and development teams on new features and improvements in Ocado Mobile Application. You will engage with the projects from the very beginning to the end - through discovery stage of identifying and scoping projects, deciding and checking what data should be produced in order to measure its impact and efficacy.

You will also work close with Ocado Technology Data Science Research Team, who is responsible for developing machine learning solutions and solve optimisation problems across Ocado’s Business. As a Data Analyst you will help with deploying and measuring those smart features in Mobile App.

This means that you are responsible for designing experiments, monitoring and validating effects in quick-iterations and using your knowledge to get insights from data. You should be able to effectively communicate advanced technical issues and findings to a range of technical and nontechnical internal audience and stakeholders. As an owner of the Mobile App data model you are also responsible for specifying and verifying data being produced and serve as an analytics expert for data consumers from or outside the organisation.

You will be an advocate of the best practices in Data Science day-to-day work and an evangelist of data driven decisions.

Along with the other data-related teams you will be using the newest state-of-the-art data science tools including cloud-based data lake and a variety of open source, commercial and internally-built software.

Roles & Responsibilities

Your responsibilities are:

  • Informing, influencing, supporting and executing product decisions and product launches
  • Conducting analysis and applying your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our users interact with products across platforms
  • Designing and evaluating experiments
  • Monitoring key product metrics, understanding root causes of changes in metrics
  • Building and analyzing dashboards and reports
  • Building key data sets to empower operational and exploratory analysis
  • Providing on­going tracking and monitoring of performance of decision systems and statistical models
  • Communicating state of business, experiment results, etc. to relevant stakeholders
  • Spreading best practices across teams
  • Working across the teams to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Helping teams with validating and automating pipelines.

We would like to hear from you if you have:  

  • Master’s Degree in mathematics, applied statistics, data mining, physics or a related quantitative discipline
  • Prior experience in data analysis including data preprocessing, data validation and making business recommendations
  • Ability to carry out independent analytical research tasks and clearly communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences, good storytelling and ability to use interesting visualizations will be additional skills
  • Familiarity with the principles of multivariate testing, experiment design, and the standard methods for analyzing data collected from controlled and quasi­-experiments
  • Basic understanding of predictive modeling and machine learning concepts
  • Solid SQL knowledge
  • Experience with Tableau or other data visualisation tool
  • Love to learn new things and can do it quickly

We’d love it if you have:

  • Experience in working with large scale data repositories
  • Ability to work through cross-domain data sources and design data pipelines for data objects needed
  • Computer programming ability, ideally in
  • E-commerce experience
  • Practical experience with advanced statistical techniques like machine learning, data mining, time series modelling or other
  • Bayesian statistics knowledge
