Job Description

What you will do

As a MySQL DBA at Catawiki, you are the master of hundreds of servers and dozens of services. All Catawiki users will appreciate you for placing great importance on high-availability and fault-tolerance in each and every piece of infrastructure. Your colleagues will praise you for the awesome runtime you are building to provide them with the highest level of service and security.

With your broad knowledge of the infrastructure and X-Ray vision you can see everything what will happen in the next second. Any cloud provider is envious of your magical provisioning script when setting up a new cluster. You know that the heaven is a place where each packet, connection and log line matters. You'll achieve all of this and more by working closely together with the team of system engineers and back-end developers who really appreciate the pragmatic approach you are taking. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Automating database systems management;
  • Actively monitoring and troubleshooting of all database infrastructure;
  • Providing knowledge and support for software developers.

The list of the tools you'll be faced with includes but is not limited to: Linux, KVM, Ansible, Git, Nginx, MySQL, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, InfluxDB, Solr, Apache Kafka, Hadoop, Cassandra, Redis, Zabbix, ELK, AWS.

Who you are

A MySQL (Oracle / Percona / MariaDB) DBA with good communication skills, a minimum of 3 years of experience in database administration and overall minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration. You have:

  • Extensive experience in MySQL administration;
  • Experience in benchmarking, performance tuning and capacity planning;
  • Strong skills in building and maintaining replication topologies;
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills under pressure;
  • Automation mindset and experience with automation tools (preferably Ansible);
  • Awareness of different storage technologies and network protocols.
  • Good knowledge of Linux and scripting tools;
  • Knowledge of other database technologies (PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, InfluxDB, …)
  • Worked on high-traffic websites (preferably).

What we offer

A challenging career in a fast-growing, international organisation in The Netherlands. We offer an excellent salary as well as a company Macbook Pro. Naturally, a relocation package and help with settling in the Netherlands are negotiable. Additionally, you can expect:

  • Paid leave & holiday allowance
  • The Catawiki pension plan (no contribution from the employees, so Catawiki is paying for the whole pension plan)
  • Sponsored events and afternoon drinks
  • An international development team with expert knowledge
  • A fun team in a fast-growing online company facing complex challenges
  • Lots of room to work on great ideas, and to learn and grow in high-traffic website software development.
