As the mechanical engineer, you will be responsible for designing,
crafting and testing the next revision of Winky prototypes. Winky is a
spherical robot toy with a diameter of 14cm, with more than 4 DOF and a
unique plug n play modular assembly system. Your main assignment will
consist in reworking the current design to improve toughness and
reliability, while turning the latest concept arts into a fully
functional prototype. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is
expected as you will also take part of the upstream brainstorming phases
of our application feature development cycle. You will be granted
access to a broad range of fast prototyping equipments. You will work as
part of a team and individually with little supervision, reporting to
the CTO.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assess project requirements, converting functional specification and mockups to viable technical solutions;
- Use computer-aided design/modelling software to deliver printable 3D models;
- Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements;
- Coordinate with mechatronics and electronics engineers to ensure seamless integration;
- Leverage fast prototyping solutions to craft and assemble proof-of-concepts and functional prototypes;
- Design and conduct tests, analyze data and interpret results;
- Write reports and documentation, keep the technical documentation up-to-date;
- Provide technical advice.
Prerequisites:
- Proven working experience in mechanical engineering;
- Entry-level job, a first experience in a R&D department would be appreciated;
- An experience with consumer-grade appliances would be a plus;
- Interest for robotics and education.
