Job Description

We're looking for an experienced and highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join us at our HQ in Amsterdam! You will work on designing, engineering, testing, validation and supporting the production team of the AppScooter. You will play a central role in coming up with innovative solutions to engineering challenges.


As part of our Engineering team, these will be your day-to-day activities:

  • Dealing with CAD modeling of different parts for our AppScooter and principally creating 2D drawings;

  • Create and develop component and system requirements and specifications;

  • Support creation of component specifications, component DFMEA, and other technical design documents;

  • Create, manage, release, and maintain bill of materials (BOM);

  • Develop design concepts and production designs;

  • Optimize the concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments;

  • Collaborate with a variety of engineers within and beyond your team to achieve integrated and optimized system designs;

  • Communicate with suppliers for manufacturing feasibility, validation, and other engineering activities, as necessary;

  • Deliver specifications, designs, analyses, and prototypes on time and within budget;

  • Ensure designs are compatible with high volume, high quality manufacturing and assembly processes and are appropriately serviceable;

  • Create component and subsystem design verification plans and test methods (with component/system supplier);

  • Complete component and system validation as required, ensuring system targets are met and optimized;

  • Support prototype builds as well as volume production startup;

Requirements

This is the right role for you if you have:

  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering;

  • 3+ years experience in:

- CAD Software including surface modelling. Fusion 360 is an advantage;

- Extensive knowledge on geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T);

- Technical drawings (2D) definition including component assembly tolerance analysis;

- Design for manufacturing (knowledge of plastic injection moulding processes, metal casting within others);

- Test plan development and validation support;

- Supplier management;

- Material selection;

- FMEA (Failure Modes and Effect Analysis);

  • Technical writing and fluency in English;

Will make you stand out:

  • Knowledge on FEM (Finite Element analysis);

  • GD&T certification.
