The opportunity

Position: Spain Marketing Director

Location: Madrid

Role summary

The Marketing Director is a critical leadership role in the local and central group teams. The food delivery marketplace is very competitive and fast moving in Spain, with plenty of growth opportunity. The candidate must be of a calibre that is capable of leading our local marketing programmes in this demanding environment. They will be comfortable working with a large degree of autonomy and in a tech company culture - fast moving, experimental, delivery oriented.

Locally, in Spain, the Marketing Director will be accountable for hitting very challenging brand and commercial KPIs. And as part of a global marketing community they will work closely with the central team (based in London) and collaborate as One Team with their colleagues around the globe to deliver more effective and efficient marketing programmes. The successful candidate will be a natural collaborator with fantastic people management skills and an exceptional ability to execute marketing programmes with a focus on; acquisition, retention, insights and content in a highly competitive digital marketplace. They will be local experts with a global attitude.

This role reports into the Spanish Country Manager but has two key “dotted line” managers; into the Global Brand Director (for creative, brand and content), and into the Global Performance Marketing Director (for media, CRM and SEO). The candidate will be comfortable working within a matrixed reporting environment and be an effective manager upward as well as to their direct reports. The Marketing Director will also be required to work cross-functionally with sales, operations, BI, Tech, Global Performance Marketing team and other Marketing Directors – aligning targets, sharing best practices and pushing strategic projects.

The Marketing Director will have around 8 people in their team, including specialists in brand, performance, CRM, trade marketing and PR. The engagement of the team will be an important KPI to monitor and we would expect the candidate to be a brilliant coach and people manager.


 

Key responsibilities

  • Develop the local Marketing strategy and plans, within the central framework, to deliver increased Brand awareness, Brand preference and loyalty, as well as helping the growth of the Restaurants partners.

  • Develop and execute the right local media mix to ensure the company hits orders and customer acquisition targets.

  • Drive Frequency amongst existing customer base, and continuously improve Customer activation and retention, working through the central CRM team and systems.

  • Adapt central creative assets to be relevant in Spain, and originate creative work locally within central creative guidelines when required, working closely with the central Studio and brand team.

  • Develop and execute a strong PR/e-PR and social media Strategy and plan.

  • Support central SEO team in building local organic search visibility

  • Setting PPC budgets and working with central PPC team (based in London) to ensure the effective strategy and execution of paid search.

  • Work with the Sales & Operations teams to provide the right marketing support in terms of Restaurant acquisition, onboarding and activation, as well as develop City marketing plans, and improve NPS.

  • Develop local learnings and share with the Global Marketing team and other country Marketing Directors.

  • Maintain tight budget controls and ensure strategic and budgetary goals are met in the most efficient and effective way.

  • Work with stakeholders to ensure brand impacts positively on the broader marketing team’s metrics and Key Performance Indicators across both consumer and trade activity.

  • Support the Managing Director as the public face of JUST EAT, helping develop relationships with opinion leaders and being an effective spokesperson for external relationships

  • Build an international network among other Marketing Directors and the JUST-EAT International team in order to share best practices.

  • Develop and lead, coach, motivate and inspire the marketing team.

  • Manage external agencies to drive strong relationships and ensure ROI’s are tracked and maximized.


 

Required skills and experience:

 

  • Minimum 10 years of marketing leadership experience in a high-growth companies

  • Experience across all marketing off/on disciplines.

  • Proven track record of hiring, mentoring, and retaining world-class marketing talent

  • Demonstrated communications expertise with exceptional verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent operational and project management, including the ability to manage diverse projects and multiple priorities under aggressive timelines and expectations.

  • Ability to organize, remain productive, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and have an immediate impact in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

  • Must be a creative, flexible, hands-on marketer that’s comfortable rolling up your sleeves and doing whatever it takes to get the job done.

  • Collaborate team player with great interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively cross-functionally

  • Strong budget management and marketing measurement skills with a track record of managing budgets.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or similar discipline.

  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.

  • BRAND EXPERIENCE - Will have strong B2C brand-building experience, being able to demonstrate a deep understanding of brands, and personal impact on their current or previous brand’s growth trend. Previous experience of generating marketing campaigns that gain traction with bloggers, influencers, journalists and customers alike, would also be a strong plus.

  • INTEGRATED MARKETING EXPERIENCE – Solid experience of delivering online and offline marketing campaigns across all channels, with the requisite ROI-driven approach. Will have deep experience in national and local campaign planning activity across a multitude of channels. Will be well versed in getting the best out of external marketing support, including agencies.

  • MEASUREMENT – Highly analytical and data driven. Good track record in understanding how best to measure marketing performance and ROI across a variety of channels from brand awareness and sentiment to attribution and LTV models.

  • CUSTOMER CENTRIC AND TRADE PARTNER EXPERIENCE FOCUSED – Must act as the voice of all customers, be passionate about their profiles, needs and how to engage them at all stages in their journey with JUST EAT. B2B experience is useful but not critical.

  • LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT – A strong leader and communicator, able to present a vision as well as take people on a journey and empower their team. Capable of working as part of a central marketing community and matrixed management. Experience of leading a team essential.

  • STRATEGIC THINKING COUPLED WITH HANDS-ON EXECUTION FOCUS – Able to analyse complex data and create simple strategies. Great at communications planning to bring strategy to life in all channels and caring about the detailed execution.
