Job Description

OCS is seeking to hire a lead business/data analyst to join our SDW (Sports Data Warehouse) team.

As a lead analyst, you would be responsible for directing the analyst team in sports data analysis and data mappings. You would also coordinate the team staff’s schedule and ensure effective communication between team members and other IT functional areas. Additionally, you will be expected to provide feedback and suggestions for process and product improvement and act as a technical mentor and adviser.

As part of your role you will be managing our master data set, define mapping between different data formats and schemas and troubleshooting data issues. You will work with remote teams in an agile way to provide and track estimation of work as well as developing an understanding of the overall architecture of the system.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities

  • To acquire a deep understanding of the sports domain area to define and suggest areas for improvements.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Interpret and analyse data problems.
  • Define data mapping between a few different formats and schemas.
  • Managing master data, its versioning and evolution.
  • Assessing tests and assisting with strategic decisions on system evolution.
  • Act as a technical mentor and adviser to the rest of the team.
  • Working with multiple remote teams at the same time.
  • Drive an analysis without a constant supervision to deliver it to the highest standard.
  • Mentoring other team members and taking control over analysis quality.
  • Carry on a relevant technical documentation keeping it up to date.
  • Providing technical expertise on data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.
  • Apply pragmatism and best practices, delivering projects on time, with excellent quality.
  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    Technical Skills

  • Proven experience as Business and/or Data Analyst or similar role.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in analysis of data formats and storages, as well as data retrieval methodologies.
  • Possession of Python and SQL at developer level.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Ability to work in heterogeneous environment with multiple diverse data schemas and formats finding common patterns and defining data mappings between them.
  • Good structural documentation skills.
  • Experience working with source control systems (Git, TFS, Bitbucket, etc)
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse team that is geographically dispersed.
  • Soft Skills

  • Fluent English and outstanding communication skills (written and oral) especially in understanding requirements and explaining technical or complex concepts.
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Extensive experience with Agile Practices and the tools involved in them.
  • A leadership attitude and the ability to mentor and guide team members.
