Job Description

We are looking for talented and motivated developers who can drive the process of encoding our deep knowledge of football into a software platform. This will require not only software development skills but the ability to learn from domain experts and deconstruct their knowledge. You will use your technical skills to turn human mastery into artificial intelligence.

This is a greenfield project and you will play a critical role in its success, with leadership opportunities available as the team grows. We value individual ownership and responsibility over projects, a healthy approach to velocity and technical debt, and providing constant feedback to each other. We are a new company with a small but growing team, providing an opportunity for every contributor to shape our culture.

We work mainly in Python, powered by Google Cloud Platform. Other components of our stack are yet to be determined, so you can bring your own talents to the table. Although you are not responsible for providing the football expertise, an enthusiasm for the game and desire to gain a deeper understanding will be beneficial.

Optima Sport System’s offices are located in Sant Joan Despí, easily accessible by public transport from Barcelona proper.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or a related field.
- 1+ years experience developing with Python.
- Creativity and initiative.
- Fluency in English.

Kognia Sports Intelligence is a Barcelona-based startup building a next-generation soccer analytics platform. Using proprietary or external video feed from the games, Kognia’s technology automatizes and conducts real-time and post-match tactical analysis of football games.

Kognia’s software provides feedback directly to coaching staffs in their own language. Coaches are alerted to important tactical situations and given suggestions for exploiting them. Post-match, users can review squad performance and explore a database of training drills based on the detected tactics.
