Job Description

The “Fleet Management Europe” line of business of Webfleet Solutions / Bridgestone Mobility Solutions represents our combined market presence in EU and non-EU European countries. Webfleet Solutions has acquired some competitors in the European markets. The role will be in a team focused on consolidating the legacy from the acquisitions and migrating customers onto our standard products. This involves building tools and processes for migrations of customers but also to extend and enhance the functionality of our standard products to become a fit with the requirements of the customers that are migrated. The team’s mission is to create and provide relevant products or adaptations of our standard products, middleware to bridge gaps and differences, as well as solutions that comply with specific regulations in our customers’ industries. The “mergers and acquisitions” engineering team in Barcelona has the core competencies in this area and strengthens the global product engineering organization in this respect.

We are looking for versatile software engineers with focus on the topic of systems consolidation, migration and delivering suitable enhancement to our standard products. The successful candidate will become part of an agile cross-functional team which takes responsibility to deliver changes across systems and the full application stack and for decommissioning legacy systems. You will need solid foundations in one or more of the technologies of the legacy or current stack (Java, .NET, Spring, Oracle, Cassandra, Kafka, JavaScript, React/React Native, HTML5, CSS3) and a lot of drive and mental flexibility to learn a lot about the rest of it. If you think of yourself as “T-Shaped” or consider becoming it, you have the profile and personality we are looking for.

Here is a little taste of your challenge:

The successful candidate will become part of an agile cross-functional team of highly skilled and motivated engineers. Together with this team and in collaboration with other teams in our product engineering organization, you will:

  • Discuss, define, and develop tooling and middleware related to consolidating legacy systems and migrating the respective customers and users.

  • Create solution designs for and deliver complete sets of functionalities from backend to frontend, in some cases even including firmware changes.

  • Work in a technically complex and sensitive environment, which will require you to build relevant functional knowledge about the products and technical expertise about the WFSP stack and architecture as well as legacy systems.

  • Maintain some of the legacy systems until it is their time to be migrated and then decommissioned.

  • Take holistic responsibility, including ongoing functional and performance improvements, bug fixing, and issue solving on the production instances of your applications and test automation, as well as necessary configuration and data changes.

  • You will understand and partially reverse engineer functionalities in legacy systems and implement equivalent features in the Webfleet Solutions Service Platform

  • Apply agile methods to organize your team’s work, make your planning and team performance transparent and to manage your stakeholders.

Who are you?

There is no set route to become Software Engineer in Webfleet Solutions. But to be successful in this role, this is the kind of profile we have in mind:

No matter whether it is to implement a new feature, fix a bug in production, extract some data and deliver it to customer support, change system configurations, solving problems together with 3rd parties and system partners, you tackle the problem and resolve it.
