Hardware UX Designer (f/m) in Berlin

As a Hardware UX Designer (f/m) at Native Instruments you will shape the future of hardware instruments and controllers.

You will be deeply involved in all aspects of our hardware and software development – you will work collaboratively in a cross-functional team, taking product ideas from initial concept through to mass production. This will include coordinating early design phases, including gathering and synthesizing inputs from various internal and external users, and creating user journeys, workflows, wireframes and building prototypes. In this position you will be working closely with the product owner and user research to iterate your concepts and solutions.

As a strong communicator you will help your team gain a deeper understanding of the users’ needs. You will create innovative and forward-thinking solutions, while keeping an eye on cost implications.

• Provide inspiring and sophisticated design concepts to help define the function, interaction and appearance of NI's future hardware products
• Organize and conduct user interviews and usability tests to validate the process, from design ideas to detailed concepts
• Create physical and digital prototypes, from paper mock-ups to interactive interfaces
• Conceptualize workflows and validate them with developers and users
• Create and deliver detailed concept presentations to internal project and management teams
• Generate supporting concept documentation for development teams and assist in the transfer to manufacturing
• Work closely with your cross-functional development team to make sure key design objectives are met, and to ensure the highest level of quality in production

• You are a highly creative, design-driven individual with a passion for music production and performance
• You have an eye for details, a strong ability to self-organize while running projects and tasks, and you work effectively within inter-disciplinary teams
• You have a good knowledge of the audio industry – any prior experience designing music-related hardware is a plus
• You have a design degree, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience designing hardware-software products
• You have a proven understanding of human-centered design thinking
• You are experienced at planning user research and conducting interviews
• You are fluent in physical and digital prototyping to explore new ideas
• You have at least a basic understanding of agile development processes
• You are proficient in Adobe, prototyping tools and scripting- experience with 3D software a plus
• You are an excellent communicator in English; fluency in German is a plus
