Job Description

Spotify is looking for a technically ubiquitous engineer to join our Platform engineering organisation! The Platform team builds the technology that enables Spotify to learn quickly and scale easily, enabling rapid growth in our users and our business around the globe. Spanning many subject areas, we work to make engineering teams work better and faster; crafting the frameworks, capabilities and tools needed to welcome a billion customers. The Platform Developer Experience tribe ensures that our engineers have support in the complete development lifecycle no matter what discipline they are in. In this position, your main focus will be on providing a modern and stable platform at scale for the Web Engineer community. You will build all types of applications, libraries and infrastructure amplifying feature teams, so they can spend even more of their time building features while the infra is taken care of. The team you will be joining have spent the last years alleviating the burden of feature teams having to support their own routing layers and by offering a stable and scalable centralised solution, we enable our web engineering teams to focus on their customer value!

What you'll Do

  • Be a valued member of an autonomous agile team to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new product objectives on high-scale and high-availability systems. As we own and operate several Tier 1 services we have a rotating on-call schedule
  • Be a strong participant in the Spotify-wide web community affecting and driving Web engineering practices, actively seeking out customer feedback on how to improve our platform.
  • Facilitate collaboration with your peers, product owners, and designers to seek exciting and complicated problems for delivering quality code.
  • Regular hack days and annual hack weeks.
  • Deliver performant, testable, maintainable and high-quality code and take operational responsibility for the components that you develop.

Who you are

  • You are passionate about delivering end-to-end experiences and software architecture across the front-end, back-end, and the APIs that glue them together.
  • You are experienced with modern programming languages, technologies, coding, testing, debugging, and automation techniques.
  • You care about solving engineering problems and would be described as most often found on the backend but comfortable across the stack.
  • You are used to leverage data, metrics and other tools to identify problems in a high-scale production environment.
  • You enjoy learning quickly and working closely together with your product team to bring value to your partners.
