ABOUT PAGANTIS

We are a leading player in the fintech sector with a team with people of all crafts, coming from fifteen different nationalities for a total of more than 90 skilled professionals across our Barcelona and Madrid offices, Milan and now Paris!

Founded in 2011, we have developed an innovative transactional platform providing consumer credit services across all major markets in Southern Europe. Designed around advanced AI algorithms, our platform provides immediate, real-time processes for ID verification, credit scoring, and fraud detection resulting in far superior consumer lending solutions. We currently serve consumer credit needs via our two main platforms: QueBueno.es (payday lending), and Paga+Tarde (instant credit platform for eCommerce and brick and mortar merchants).

We have so far raised a total of €95m in capital (equity and debt) and are poised to enjoy significant growth both nationally and internationally. We have recently signed agreements with Paypal and Mastercard to continue to drive our expansion and are rapidly expanding in Italy, France and Portugal as well as issuing and managing Pagantis credit cards.

Pagantis is a regulated entity (Bank of Spain) with licenses to operate in all major markets in Southern Europe.


GROUP FINANCE DIRECTOR

Mission

Lead the company’s accounting and finance control activities in the countries where it operates (currently Spain, Italy, France and Portugal).

Reporting line: CFO

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, direction and management to the finance and accounting team;
  • Lead the process of financial reporting, filing of accounts and budgeting (IFRS and Spanish GAAP);
  • Build and manage treasury and cash management tools and reports;
  • Ensure alignment of internal processes and procedures with best market practices and statutory regulations in the group jurisdictions;
  • Manage and supervise the financial audit of the group companies and at consolidated level (both in Spain and internationally - UK and Luxembourg);
  • Advise and assist in the identification and implementation of best accounting and finance systems;
  • Lead activities directed to identify key performance indicators for the business and the various key functions of the business;
  • Support the legal team with any financial regulatory requirements with Bank of Spain and any other regulator the company is subject to;
  • Support the preparation of monthly management reports and any other internal or external financial reports, as the case might be;
  • Support the CFO and the rest of the management team with the identification and execution of major strategic and commercial projects, including strategic alliances and major commercial agreements;
  • Assist the CFO and the rest of the management team with any funding activity (equity, debt or hybrid capital) the board might intend to pursue.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant with several years of experience in major accounting or auditing firms (big four auditors preferable);
  • Deep knowledge of Spanish GAAP and IFRS accounting standards;
  • Experience in working with financial institutions (banks or fintech companies), especially if operating in the consumer lending space;
  • Knowledge of major accounting IT systems and experience in implementing and developing over time those systems;
  • Experience in identifying KPIs and foster a culture of cost control and financial discipline;
  • Flexibility and ability to work in an unstructured environment (a technology company in particular) and adapt to a dynamic and changing environment;
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.

Other Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Managerial experience and basic knowledge of Corporate Finance principles and processes;
  • Experience in dealing with financial regulators and familiarity with ongoing financial regulations;
  • Ability to code with main programming languages and tools, familiarity with databases and data management tools (e.g. SQL, mySQL);
  • MBA degree from major business school.
