Job Description

We are looking for a talented and creative Data Scientist interested in building, defining and pushing the boundaries of games analytics within our Experimentation Group.

Your role within our Kingdom

As part of the Experimentation group, you will work to further understand player behavior in our games and help take King’s data capabilities to the next level. Proactivity is key: we are looking for people interested in figuring out how the world works, and how to apply their technical skills to reach this goal.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and analysing experiments, trying to figure out underlying player behaviour.
  • Help automatising the analysis process by designing and building suitable reporting tools.

Skills to create thrills

With a passion for games, you will be strong in quantitative disciplines, statistics or mathematics, have solid programming skills and the ability to draw business insights that will add real value to King. You will need to demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment whilst communicating effectively with both creative and business-oriented functions.

Other skills include:

  • Software engineering skills, with a strong focus on Python and the Scipy stack (Pandas, Numpy, etc.).
  • Proficiency with the Unix command-line environment (shell scripting is a plus).
  • Proficiency with SQL.
  • Designing good ways of communicating, visualising or reporting your results/analyses so they are clear and unambiguous, ideally to very diverse audiences.
  • Ideally, have both statistical knowledge and experiment design experience.

Specific experience that might be helpful, but is not required, includes: experience in the games industry or similarly sophisticated customer-facing digital businesses; experience in "big data" systems such as Hadoop, Hive; robust understanding of more advanced statistical techniques suitable for analysis of highly skewed populations; experience in predictive analytics, segmentation, and related areas; experience in experimental design; software engineering skills including either backend network programming or frontend mobile development; skills with standard reporting tools such as Tableau/Looker, etc.

Making games is fun. Especially when you do it with people that share the same idea of what makes a good workplace great. No matter where you’re from, it’s all about what we can achieve together when creating truly magical moments for all our players. That’s why we hire all sorts of talent - because a great saga needs all sorts of heroes.
