Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Manager, to join our growing team in our Barcelona office.

QMENTA is a multi-disciplinary science and engineering start-up that has developed a novel approach to 3D brain reconstructions and proprietary image analysis and visualization techniques to identify disease conditions of the central nervous system .

QMENTA provides a powerful cloud based solution for neuroimaging to better understand the mechanisms of the brain including in relation to various associated illnesses. Its platform and data has helped specialists, research organizations, biopharmaceutical companies and CRO’s in learning more about the human and animal brain, following the industry’s comprehensive security framework.

Founded 4 years ago, QMENTA (formerly Mint Labs) is a rapidly growing venture-backed company. We are currently looking to hire an Engineering Lead with exceptional experience in IT, especially in healthcare IT, integrity, and in-depth knowledge of the industry to join our growing team based in Barcelona.

Key Responsibilities

Your job is to tackle challenges by thoughtfully leading collaborative efforts based on everyone’s strengths.
Ensure each individual on the team benefits from being part of the team.
Ensure developers/engineers are productive, aware of the context in which they are working, informed of relevant developments from other areas, and happy.
Collaborate with tech-leads on feature/project planning & process improvement.
Taking part on the technical road map planning and can articulate how the team is going to get from here to there.
Monitor the progress for different features or projects, and report potential problems early.
Setting and tracking goals for each individual and for the team.
Mentor and grow the technical knowledge of individuals in the team.
Assist in the individual career development goals.
Influence and establish best engineering practices through solid design decisions, processes and tools.
Taking part in business development planning.

Qualifications

4 years of experience leading software engineering teams (mentoring junior engineers, setting technical direction, etc.).
Strong organization and prioritization skills.
Strong English language communication skills.
Ability to lead, coach and provide leadership to team on goals, objectives and performance success criteria.
Aligns team’s commitments with organizational strategic directions.
Excellence in strategic thinking, leadership and be able to influence without authority.
BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
Large systems software design and development experience, including experience in Unix/Linux.
Solid experience in Python and at least another object-oriented language.
Very strong software engineering – design, development and testing, experience.
Knowledge on Cloud technologies, Google Compute Engine, Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
