Director Engineering in Barcelona

A challenging task

• As Technical Director you are responsible for leading team leads and engineers within 2-4 cross-functional product teams.
• You are able to define and discuss the technical design of an application and be confident in discussions with Product.
• You bring performance culture both to the team and to yourself.
• You will enable the people in your teams to work as efficiently as possible and manage their personal development.
• You will coordinate best possible staffing of projects in close co-operation with your teams and Management.

A convincing background

• You are passionate and proficient in leading people.
• You have previous experience as Technical Director or similar, coordinating many teams in an international environment.
• You have several years’ hands-on experience in developing web applications, and preferably have knowledge of a Ruby on Rails, and Distributed Systems.
• You have a strong interest and knowledge of digital business and upcoming technologies and are able to support the product director with strategy and roadmap planning.
• You are self-motivated and you take ownership - and encourage your teams to do the same.
• You thrive in an agile environment, and are able to help your teams stay agile.
• You are not content with the status quo, always looking to improve both yourself and your surroundings.
• You have high empathy and emotional intelligence, which helps you stay calm and positive. You are open to listen to different opinions and you help your teams move forward.
• You are fluent in English.
• You bring your whole self to work, and want to have fun whilst you are there.
• You’re available to travel regularly to our headquarters in Hamburg.
• Fluency in German would be a plus but is not a requirement.
