The Core Infrastructure Service team is included in the Foundations for Compute, Storage and Cloud Services (CS&C), focus on Storage&Backup environments.

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for availability, tuning, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning.
  • Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services—from inception and design through deployment, operation and refinement.
  • Monitor and resolve Incident/problems with platform operations, setting priorities and ensuring all areas collaborate in the resolution when required.
  • Be a part of the technical solution team focusing on maintaining services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health and improving the reliability of the IT infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with IT Partners, other IT departments and Managed Services suppliers in the design and delivery of complex IT solutions.
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
  • Look for continuous improvement activities: technical and Team collaboration and processes areas. Propose continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure solutions and components implemented comply with Quality/Regulatory standards, as applicable

Job skills required

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Well-demonstrated customer & delivery focus.
  • Proven scripting and automation skills with expertise in delivering and managing infrastructure as code.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and virtual teams from different locations and different cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to function independently with very little supervision and navigate ambiguity.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English. German, Spanish or Chinese (Mandarin) are significant pluses.
  • Moderate travel required and ability to work across multiple time zones, including on-call and extend hours of work.

Education / Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • You will bring 6 years of relevant work experience in one or more multinational work environments (e.g. healthcare industry experience is a plus)

Technology Skills: 

Storage:

  • Automation skills (Ansible, PowerShell, Jenkins), infrastructure as code, logging, monitoring and observability, infrastructure configuration, scripting languages and applications. Source code management (BitBucket).
  • Storage environments (SAN / NAS / Backup). Administration, migration, troubleshooting and root cause analysis of the following technologies: Pure Storage & DellEMC & HP & NetApp & Cohesity
  • Fabric Administration/Troubleshooting/ Implementation/Upgrade Brocade SAN Switches
  • Keeps the business running. Second support level for Storage/Backup activities to achieve high availability and performance of the supported environments.
  • Supports the ITSM Processes according to Roche Global Standards (Configuration, Change, Problem Management, etc.).
  • Capacity Management for Lifecycle and Organic Growth: Installation, Configuration, Operation) within cost targets.
  • Provides multi-level Technical support for diagnosing, reproducing and fixing Storage Hardware and Software issues/problems.
  • Actively contributes to the configuration, layout and performance tuning of Storage/Backup Infrastructure. Perform necessary Storage/Backup infrastructure maintenance activities and data migration, as required.
  • Provide direction and guidance acting as analyst by transforming the customer needs into specific requirements to be implemented in components or managed services managed by the team or by other teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English. German, Spanish or Chinese (Mandarin) are significant pluses.
  • Serves as a technical point of contact for highly complex enterprise wide technologies. Leads complex troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis..
  • One or more industry certifications in the respective infrastructure solution area(s) is highly desired
